Newport Beach, Calif., February 4, 2020 - The Environmental Nature Center (ENC) is presenting Presidents Week Nature Camp for students in grades K through 6th from February 17th to the 20th. The camps are from 9AM to 3PM and half-day camps are also available from 9AM to 1PM. For more info call 949-645-8489 or visit The ENC is located at 1601 16th St. in Newport Beach.

“Today’s children lack opportunities to connect with nature and interact with the outdoors,” said ENC Assistant Director Lori Whalen. “There are many benefits of connecting with nature. The ENC’s Nature Camps provide fun outdoor learning experiences that make a positive impact on children’s growth and well being.”

Each day, campers (divided into groups by grade) experience nature by participating in stimulating age appropriate hands-on activities. Children spend the majority of the day learning and playing outside, conducting science experiments, creating nature based art, and observing animals in their natural habitats. Activities increase children's appreciation of the natural world.

Research has shown that outdoor play increases fitness levels and that outdoor environments are important to children’s development of independence and autonomy. Learning outside increases students’ ability to think both critically and creatively.

"Presidents Week Nature camp allows children to experience all the joys of nature without having to travel far from home," said ENC Education Director Mindy Schwartz. "There is something new for children to observe and experience at each and every turn."
