McKinney Rotary Club Parade of Lights (Saturday)
The parade is a free, family-friendly event and has become the focal point for the community during the holiday season. This year, Santa is promising snow! Around the historic downtown square, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Santa's Helpers (Thursday)
WFAA Channel 8's Santa's Helpers is celebrating its 47th year of collecting holiday toys for needy children. Drop off toys on the downtown square 5-8:30 p.m. on the Kentucky side of the McKinney Performing Arts Center. 
Popular vocalist Erica Lane will dazzle you in the holiday concert "Christmas Joy," featuring exciting jazz tunes and intense, elegant ballads. Lane will capture your heart as she performs stunning seasonal arrangements. 8-10 p.m. Tickets are $18 adults; $15 seniors 65+; $11 children 4 to 12.
Countdown to Christmas Free Concert (Sunday)
Fill yourself and your family with Christmas cheer by spending time with the all-volunteer McKinney Community Band as they present a Sunday afternoon of favorite holiday music. 4-6 p.m. Free, no ticket required.
Spirit of Christmas Benefit Concert (Sunday) McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller and First Baptist McKinney are excited to present The Spirit of Christmas concert to benefit local McKinney initiatives. Tickets are $15 general admission and $20 preferred seating (available online). Two performances - 3-5 p.m and 7-9 p.m. 1615 W. Louisiana.
Santa on the Square (Thru Dec. 17)
Experience true Christmas magic as your child steps into the “tiny house” workshop of Santa himself on the historic square. Your booking includes two copies of a 4 x 6 in. photo in a keepsake folder and a visit with Santa. (Additional sizes are available on site.) All proceeds benefit Volunteer McKinney, a local nonprofit that inspires people to volunteer. Schedule visits online.

More than 40 artisans will be on hand including potters, painters, jewelers, woodworkers, sculptors and more. 11 a.m.-5 p.m
JCD & Friends Holiday Jam Bash (shown, Saturday)
Favorite local singer-songwriters Jon Christopher Davis, Maylee Thomas and Crystal and Will Yates will join forces on the TUPPS stage in a night full of great music and holiday cheer.

Guests will see lights and holiday décor along a half mile Heard nature trail. Children and the young at heart will enjoy the opportunity to have a photo taken with Father Christmas and Mother Nature in a festive setting. Hot beverages and treats will be available for purchase, and families will enjoy live holiday music. Tickets are $9 for adults/seniors and $5 for kids 3-12; available at the door or online. 1 Nature Place. 6:30-9 p.m. 

Dinosaurs Live (shown, thru Feb. 19) They're back! Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and some of his life-size animatronic dinosaur friends along the Heard's nature trails.Tues.-Sat., 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun., 1-5 p.m. 

Nature Story Time (Friday)
Story times are designed primarily for young children and will introduce a different nature-themed book each week. During some story times, a puppet, live animal or enrichment items are used to enhance the experience. 30-45 minutes depending on the book covered. Included in general admission and free for Heard Museum Members. 10:30 a.m.

Second Saturday Bird Walk (Saturday)
If you've ever had an interest in birding but haven't known where to start, this is a great opportunity to learn some basics. No reservations are required, but you must arrive on time (8 a.m.). Included in general admission; free for Heard Museum members.
