The Candy Cottage
Once in a while, a product comes out that provides hours of fun and creativity and may change the way you think about something.
We have just such a product with the Candy Cottage
Traditionally, gingerbread houses take a ton of time to create.
That's fine if you have the time, but the Candy Cottage is ready to decorate and can be used over and over again for lots of holidays, which makes it perfect for making a Halloween House!
Of course, we have everything you need to bake a traditional gingerbread house if you'd prefer to eat your house when it's all finished!
Promote Your Nantucket Business!

Introduce your Nantucket Business to hundreds of women in one evening.
Our 6th annual Ladies' Night is November 14th.

Garden Center End of Season Sale

Perennials, shrubs, roses are 75% off!

Apples, Apples, Apples

It's nearly the end of fresh apples season, and we have stocked up on all the varieties that Carlson's Orchard has left.  From Northern Spies to Cortlands and Fujis, there's a great selection for baking and eating right out of the hand.
And in answer to a frequently asked question, Cortlands are generally the best apple for pies and baked desserts.
Apple Display
And while we are speaking of apples,
Wood's Boiled Cider from Vermont
is another new product that has us excited! Find it in the market.
Chowder Contest Winners

We are thrilled by the turnout at the first Chowder Festival held at the farm last Saturday - over 500 people came out to sample and vote for their favorite chowder!  There were so many people that most restaurants ran out of chowder.  We'll be sure they make more next year.  Thanks to all the participants, everyone that came to the farm and a special thanks to Bob Buccino and his culinary students who were an integral part of this event.  Here are the winners:

1st - Westmoor Club

2nd - Miacomet Golf Glub

3rd - Nantucket Clam Bake

If you missed it this year we hope you can join us in October next year!

Guess When the Wind Turbine
Hits 1 Megawatt!
(A little more wind this week would be helpful!)
Since our wind turbine (fondly called WES) was comissioned,
it has created a lot of energy.  How much?
Here are several different ways to quantify just how much.
WES has produced the equivalent of:
396 million AA Batteries powered
87,000 gallons of gas offset
more than 183 million smart phone charges
225,000 electric washer and dryer loads
504 tons of CO2 emissions avoided
more than 198 million light bulbs lit for one hour
So we are having a contest!  WES's energy production is
about to reach 1 Megawatt.
The person who guesses closest to the right day and time will win a $50 gift certificate.  Just come into the market, write down your guess and put it in the box.  We will call you if you are the winner.
You can see how much energy is being produced at any time by going to this link.
