February 2018 Events


* February 2:  Free Film Friday will host The Life and Works of M. C. Escher February 2, 2018 from 7-8:30 p.m. The Life and Works of M. C. Escher takes an in-depth look at the artist and traces his career path and personal life, from the early years in Italy to his move to Switzerland and subsequent turn inward for inspiration.  100 N Woodland Blvd

* February 17:  Family Fun Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free admission, children must be accompanied by an adult.  Share a great family moment through a variety of hands-on activities.  600 N Woodland Blvd

* February 17:  Studio 54 Dance Party hosted by Krewe Nouveau to benefit the Museum of Art DeLand. 8 – 11 PM  at the Artisan Alley Garage.  Tickets are $25 per person in advance or $35 per person at the door.   21 and over only.  Enjoy a DJ,  Pole and Aerial Performers, live entertainment, Go-Go dancers and more!  There will be a New York City-style food cart providing bites for sale, cash bars provided by Cafe DaVinci & the Nest. Dress is nightclub attire with a disco theme.  There will be two jetBlue roundtrip tickets for the Best Costume!  Tickets on sale after 2/1/18 at both Museum locations: 100 and 600 N Woodland Blvd and online now. If paying online your name will be placed on the Will Call List at the event.  No tickets will be mailed.  Click here to purchase tickets.  

* February 23:  Walter May Art Speaks Lecture Series presents The Man Behind the Mirror.  Pam Coffman, Curator of Education, will provide insights into the life of M. C. Escher who, despite producing some of the most popular images in modern art, remains an enigma.  

* February 24 and 25: Join the Museum and the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts for the West Volusia Studio Art Tour - February 24-25.  Discover the studios of artists working in the DeLand area.Pick up your Tour Guide at the Museum of Art – DeLand and Downtown DeLand locations or click here to learn more. The Museum is proud to support the West Volusia Studio Tour.


* “The Magical World of M. C. Escher” will be on exhibit Jan. 27 through March 25, 2018, at the Museum of Art – DeLand Downtown, 100 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 1-4 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday (special extended hours for the Escher exhibit).

* “Yozo Hamaguchi:  Master of the Mezzotint and 100 Years of American Prints from the Butler Institute of American Art” will be on exhibit Jan. 19 through March 18, 2018, at the Museum of Art – DeLand, 600 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
