As we look back on the miracles of 2017, we are grateful for your prayers and partnership. You sent us around the world. We witnessed over 45,000 people commit their lives to Jesus Christ in meetings as we joined passionate believers from churches, Teen Challenge & Mission SOS. We had the privilege of ministering at Kingdom Fiesta in Beirut, Lebanon as well as local congregations, youth meetings, community outreaches here and around the globe.

From Teen Challenge Leadership Training, chapels, Spiritual Emphasis to TC Pastors’ Awareness meetings, from street outreach and one-on-one street corner ministry to massive Festival outreach with Evangelist Johannes Amritzer & Mission SOS, we watched the Holy Spirit move. God took us to jails and prisons, Iwawa, the isolated Rwandan island prison colony (over 3,000 confessions of faith), to Syrian and South Sudanese refugee camps, radio, and on national television with you.

A highlight of 2018 was joining an amazing Global Teen Challenge team at the Chi Alpha World Missions Summit in Houston, Texas.  Over 6000 secular university students were challenged by passionate missionaries from around the globe to give a year and pray about a lifetime. You made it possible for us to be a part. You share in each victory and we celebrate every miracle. We are enormously excited about what God is going to do in 2018, should the Lord tarry.

AROUND THE WORLD: A look back at 2017

Come around the globe with Cathy and me with our 2017 Christmas installment of SILENT NIGHT. Join us for a look back at a powerful year of ministry. From Lebanon to the South Sudanese refugee camps, from Madagascar to Ethiopia, from the Antilles Islands to the Syrian refugee camps of the Bekaa Valley, we shared the Good News, putting HOPE within reach--Unleash the Hope!

Virginia Commonwealth Governor's Prayer Breakfast

We enjoyed a wonderful time of ministry at the Commonwealth 52nd Annual Governor's Prayer Breakfast in Richmond on January 10th. Reverend Eric Manning, pastor of Emanuel A.M.E. Church ministered a powerful word of reconciliation. When gunfire shattered the peaceful Charleston, South Carolina calm on June 17, 2015, an evening Bible study at his church ended in a massacre. Dylann Roof, a 21-year-old domestic terrorist and white supremacist, took the lives 9 Innocent victims who’d come to Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church to pray.

It also resulted in in an opportunity for one of the greatest examples of forgiveness and reconciliation in recent history. Their testimony of this church summed up as survivor Polly Sheperd shared, "You cannot overcome evil with evil, Love overcomes it all." After a contentious Virginia election, it was good to see Republicans and Democrats alike pray for the future of our Commonwealth.

A GILLOTT FAMILY CHRISTMAS

It was such a delight to be home this year for Christmas and have the whole crew here in Virginia to celebrate. As blessed as we are to see miracles around the word, I am ever blessed and amazed by the lives and ministry of all four of our children and their families. May God's legacy for the righteous seed continue to bless all of your families.

2018: A YEAR OF BREAKTHROUGH

Bern

"So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth." Hosea 6:3

When I asked God for a word for 2018, His word to me was breakthrough.

As we are surrounded by the swirling apprehension of current events, North Korea, Iran, politics, disease, death, finances, fears about our president, real news, fake news, it is easy to descend into despair or as some have – apathy. You see, I do not fear the one with his finger on the button because I know who holds the world in His hands.

I have been surprised this year by the number of people that have confided in me that they made no New Year’s resolution. The attitude seems to be, “since I break them why even try.” That is weak sauce! The power of the Holy Spirit in our lives challenges us to excellence and we can find that only in Him.

Hosea reminds us that surely as the dawn (each new day) He will come. God does not work in new years; He works in new days. If you were marooned on a desert island without a watch or calendar, you cannot see a new year, but experience each new day. He brings the sun up for us every morning as a reminder that His lovingkindness will take us through.

Many people think a New Year’s resolution has the ability to complete itself by the act of words. The power is not in the words of a resolution but an act of your will joined to God’s will that results in incremental change. Stop looking for a microwave resolution with an instant revolution.  Sadly, “suddenly” in the Bible often means-only 300 years.

It is not revolution; it is evolution as incremental change comes day by day in obedience to His voice. It is more than will power, it is God's power.

The hectic pace and pressures of life of the time we live in can squeeze the energy and joy out of the journey.  The old adage says better to aim high and miss, than to aim low and hit. Perhaps even more concerning should be when we don’t even take the time to aim anymore.

I love the heart of Hosea  captured in verse three above where he said, “Let us press on to know the Lord” Most of our resolutions focus on the what of the things we will do, rather than the most significant issue,  the WHO!  God loves me, has a plan, and a desire to walk personally with me. God help me see my heart because the thing to which I devote most of my time, is the object of my worship.

The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippians written from jail, abandoned by many friends, does not speak in terms of discouragement, failure, or defeat. He takes on the heart of Hosea. He starts chapter 3 with rejoice in the Lord and in verse 14 says I PRESS ON. The word of God and the love of God call us to this new year not with dread or fear but supernatural anticipation.

Jesus said, "I am the Way." A way has the implication of a path and it always leads to something or someone. Dare to live with confident expectation. Wave goodbye to the ordinary and expect the supernatural in 2018--a year where we will face problems, but with Emmanuel, God with us, a year of breakthrough.

OFF TO PUERTO RICO

PASTORS OF THE CARIBBEAN
The 50 year Anniversary Celebration in Puerto Rico has been complicated by the devastation inflicted by two historic hurricanes in September. Several buildings were leveled and most received significant damage to roofs, windows or dorms.

We are blessed to return to Teen Challenge in Puerto Rico for ministry, outreach and Spiritual Emphasis. Please pray for them as they balance rebuilding the facilities and continuing their outreach and hurricane relief across the island. They have unloaded, managed and distributed almost 1,000,000 pounds of food and water as well as tarps and generators. We will be joining a team from Calvary Church in Naperville who are doing ministry and construction at the men's facility in Buena Vista

ST THOMAS THIS WEEKEND
It is four months since we visited St. Thomas with the TC Puerto Rico hurricane relief team following Hurricane Irma. I am blessed to return with Cathy to minister at Full Body Evangelical Pentecostal Church. Pastor Al and his church were the tip of spear for the relief effort. We appreciate the opportunity to return and give back to those who partnered to reach out to so many as 12,000 pounds of food were distributed.

FOCUS

Again I say
unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done
for them of
my Father which is in heaven.

1) NIGERIA TC Writes:

Please stand in prayers for us, as I am writing just now, there is a fight between the Fulani herds men jihadists and our people at the state headquarters. Pray and pray.

A spate of deadly attacks in Nigeria last year was blamed on ethnic Fulani cattle herders, the president has ordered a military crackdown on the group. But the issue is not new - clashes between jihadists, different groups of Fulaniherders and farmers have killed thousands of people in Nigeria.

2) VENTURA, California

Ventura Update: After nearly a month of battling the raging "Thomas Fire," torrential rain and mud slides continue to besiege the state of California.

Pray for the teams that are frantically searching areas of Southern California smothered by rivers of mud and boulders. With 20 fatalities, the numbers are expected to continue to rise with 43 considered missing Here is a VIDEO link to fire damage at the TC Ventura Center.

3) NAIROBI, KENYA

Please pray for Pastor Job and the increasing number of Teen Challenge centers in Kenya as they prepare to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. Pray that God will move powerfully at the Spiritual Emphasis, Graduation and anniversary celebrations.

4) Puerto Rico

Please continue to pray for Teen Challenge Puerto Rico--for electricity, finances, repairs, food, and water. They are getting close to 1 million pounds of food-tarps-generators and supplies distributed across the island. Not only are they working hard to restore their own devastated facilitates, they continue to reach out to the community and minister to the needs across the island.
Has your church or Teen Challenge center considered sending a construction team to Puerto Rico?

Pray with us for the global advance of the gospel. Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 120 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in over 32 new nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet PRACTICAL needs.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples,
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
