November 29, 2018
Before you scroll down to an important update from our Council, please save the date for something else exciting: Our Advent Season Celebration & Las Posadas in only one and half weeks! (Saturday, December 8)

This is going to be big fun, big on holiday spirit, and a big outreach opportunity. We'd love to see everyone there.
Advent Season Celebration + Las Posadas
Saturday, December 8 | Activities 10am-1pm, Lunch 1-2pm, Las Posadas 2-3:30pm

The Advent season is all about getting excited and prepared for Christmas. What better way to start it off than a big celebration bringing together Advent members and the wider community! Come get into the spirit of the season with Christmas tree decorating, caroling, ornament making, kids crafts, hot cocoa, a photo booth, advocacy station, gifts and ornaments, Las Posadas, and more.

Please join us for this very special day as a congregation and community, and consider volunteering or donating something for one of our stations.

Also please support our outreach efforts by sharing the Facebook event, or printing a flyer to post in your building or share with a friend!
Realizing the Exciting Future of Advent
Our Council is mobilizing an initiative to amplify and focus our Vision and Mission to guide us in future planning and decisions. The Council is currently and prayerfully putting together a Vision Team made up of experienced, passionate, and open-minded leaders from diverse areas of Advent's ministry. The Vision Team will begin their work shortly.

Learn more about our Vision Team and an overview of our next steps in a letter from Council President, David Richards >
Vision & Mission Retreat
Saturday | January 12, 2019 | 10am-2pm

Beginning in January, the Vision Team will lead a highly visible, inclusive process inviting our congregation to collaboratively shape our vision and mission.

The first important opportunity to engage in the visioning process is our Vision & Mission Retreat on Saturday, January 12 from 10am-2pm. Please save the date, and make every effort to attend.

Advocacy: Statement of Solidarity
For for many at Advent it goes without saying, but it still needs to be said. Please read our Statement of Solidary with our Siblings at the Border, and consider how you can support and advocate for our siblings in Christ at the border and in our community.
Stewardship & Our 2019 Budget
As Advent Lutheran prepares for 2019, we are getting ready to work on our budget. It is especially helpful to have a sense of what our income will be in the new year.

If you have not yet done so, please prayerfully fill out a commitment card with your level of giving for 2019. Commitment Cards can be found on the back table or podium in the entryway of the church or can be filled out online at Thank you for your faithful generosity!

FAQ Binder
A FAQ Binder compiling all questions and answers from our September congregational meetings is available to view at Advent upon request to any Council member. See our full roster of Council members and contact information here >

NEW Lunch Break Bible Study
Wednesdays until Christmas | 12:10pm-1pm | Downstairs office, or video chat

In our first session of "Women on the Way to Christmas," a hybrid in-person and online midday Bible Study, we discussed two incredible women who took on extraordinary challenges in the Bible, Eve and Sarah.

We heard a variety of responses from participants in the room and online that deepened our connection to these Bible stories, and left us with new insights about balance, reading Scripture, and seeing God's promises in our lives.

Thank you to our 5 participants in person and 6 online! We would love to have more join us next Wednesday as we see what we can learn from Rachel and Rehab, and continue making connections to the birth of Jesus we'll soon celebrate on Christmas Day. You'll find it's incredibly simple to join us on video chat from work, home, or anywhere using Google Hangouts.

On your next Wednesday lunch break, make plans to join us for our Lunch Break Bible Study at 12:10pm, in person or online.

Our Impact in a Year
