Synod Blog: Hunger and Iowa State Extension
By Rev. Paul Ostrem
Partnering with community resources can play an important role in addressing the needs of hungry people in communities in this synod. There are Extension Specialists located in all parts

Lutheran Church have both been involved with Extension Specialists...read the rest and get resources

ELCA Federal Credit Union opens
The ELCA Federal Credit Union celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 6 at its headquarters in the Lutheran Center in Chicago. The credit union serves ELCA members, synod employees, congregations and ELCA-related ministries. It is the first of the ELCA’s financial ministries to offer individual consumer loans.

“This is responsible stewardship,” said Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton at the ribbon cutting. “It makes services available to everyone. The ELCA Credit Union is socially responsible and is a great benefit not only to members of the ELCA churchwide organization but to all our members across the church.” Watch the video.

ELCA World Hunger Toolkits
Looking for an activity to help others learn about hunger? ELCA World Hunger Toolkits are the perfect place to start. Each toolkit includes a variety of activities designed for groups of different ages and activity levels, from folks who like to sit and talk to those who prefer to be up and moving around. These activities will help participants learn about different aspects of hunger, including food systems, disease, access to water and climate change. An updated toolkit on gender and hunger will be available summer 2016! Download all of the toolkits from ELCA.org/hunger/resources. Just
click on the “Toolkits” tab.

One Year to Live Retreat video testimonies, promotional, scholarship and registration information is available at www.lutheranmen.org  Events/One Year to Live page.   Space is limited.
