Get ready, get set, get reading this summer!

Summer Quest 2018 is Coming!

Theme - Libraries Rock!

June 18 - August 31

For students entering grades K-8

 

Motivate your child to read over the summer months and participate in enrichment activities that encourage their diverse passions and interests.  Join the Summer Reading Club to be eligible to earn medals, food coupons and/or prizes for time spent reading.  In addition, don't miss the many exciting classes, programs and events we have planned to rock your summer days and nights!  Check out our reading programs for high school students and adults too.  There is something for everyone at the library this summer so sign up starting June 18th.

Come out for some free Kona Ice for everyone (including adults).  Get more information and register for the 2018 summer reading program, open to all ages.  No registration required.

 

 

Preschool Explorers

Tuesday, June 19 - 10:30-11:15am

Kids ages 3.5-6 years old

Little Theater

 

Explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and/or Math (STEAM) in this hands-on program designed for preschoolers.  Have fun learning more about this month's theme -Sound and Music!   Registration required.
 

David Darwin

Check out the always amazing David Darwin at this fun, free Summer Reading Kick-Off event.  He is a one man sideshow featuring juggling, unicycling, plate spinning and more.   No registration required

 

Middle School Monday Night

For students entering grades 5-8

 Monday nights are all about fun this summer. Hang out with friends while helping the library!  Middle School students are invited to join us for a short book discussion, Library Jeopardy (a trivia game based on the books you read) and then a Junior Friends meeting.  The book discussion books are Half a Chance (by Cynthia Lord), Dog Tags: Semper Fido (by C. Alexander London) and The Wild Ones (by C. Alexander London).  

 No registration required.

 

Summer 6 week Story Time Session Begins

June 26 - August 2

Birth - Age 5

Bring the kids out for fun and educational story times this summer at the library. We offer specially designed programs for Infants (Wednesday or Thursday at 10am), Toddlers (Tuesday at 10:30am), Families (Tuesday at 11:30am) and Pajama (Thursday at 7pm).

 Registration required.

 

Ran'd Shine Magic Show

Upper Merion's Got Talent Auditions

Wednesday,June 27 · 6:30-7:30pm

For students entering grades K - 8

Valley Forge Room

 

Kids are invited to share their talents by auditioning to be in our summer talent show, UM's Got Talent!  All talent is welcome - singing, playing an instrument, dance routines, juggling or whatever skills you have to show off to the world.   Rehearsals will be on Wednesday, August 1st, Tuesday August 7th with the performance on Wednesday, August 8th.  If you cannot make either of the audition dates, please contact bginther@mclinc.org to schedule an alternate audition time.  To  sign up for an audition spot, register here.  

 

Literary Lunch

Thursday, June 28 · 1:00-2:00pm

For students entering grades 5 - 8

Bring a bagged lunch and come to the library to discuss some great books, participate in fun activities based on the book and play a trivia game to test your memory.  Our featured book for this lunch is Me and Marvin Gardens (by A.S. King).  Pick it up in advance at the library.

Let's Get Messy Art Workshop

Have a blast learning cool new art techniques!  Bring a smock for children or wear messy clothes as we will be using paint, glue and other fun art supplies.
