Worship 8:30am & 10:45am
Education 9:30am
Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

Scripture:  1 Samuel 15:34-16:13

What stories shape your life? You may have dramatic stories that have defined times of transition in your life; or a family story that influences your choices; or maybe you can pinpoint more ordinary, everyday stories that are no less significant to your personal growth and life of faith. How do these stories live on and inform your life today? How about the Bible? What stories of our ancestors in the faith have meant the most to you? Which ones stick with you and why? And where do you see the Holy Spirit moving – in any of these stories? Sometimes it’s easier in hindsight to see where God has been moving; maybe even leading us into a new future. Join us this week as we hear more of the saga of God’s people and their struggles to trust God’s guidance in their lives. Maybe we’ll discover that somehow, we’re all part of the same story; one that grounds us – and -- equips us for the future.

See you Sunday!
Denise

Unintended Bias with Rev. Bill Rose-Heim
9:30 am, Friends Hall

To be human is to have biases. Most of us are aware of our preferences and can manage what we do with them. It's the unintended biases that can influence behavior and attitudes without our even realizing it. When these unintended biases are incorporated into systems, they can exist unnoticed and unchallenged. St. Andrew folk get this. We will spend some time revisiting unintended biases, review how St. Andrew confronts and challenges institutional racism, and consider ways that this congregation might help lead other Disciples in our Region to join in this important faith-rooted effort.

Rev. Bill Rose-Heim has served in ministry for thirty-five years and during the last twenty-five years he has served in three denominations in the Midwest. He is married to Rev. Donna Rose-Heim and is the father of five children. Bill is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and has served in emergency services as a first responder and planner and held office in city government. Since November 2015, Bill has been serving as Regional Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Greater Kansas City.
