Transitions - D'Arcy's TAO Legacy
July Outreach
Heaps of thanks to our
JULY ARTISTS for sharing their time and talents with hundreds of people in our community who live with special needs and/or circumstances. See our full calendar of 20+ July outreach programs here.

Caregivers, consider bringing your care partner(s) to a program so they can enjoy the social, emotional, intellectual and physical benefits of creative engagement with others.  Please email us so we can make arrangements.

Arts Aid 4 Hidden Heroes - Military Caregiver Arts Sessions
Tidewater Arts Outreach currently offers free, monthly arts sessions to Hampton Roads military caregivers at the Hampton VA .  The 2-hour sessions are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month and offer creative engagement for caregivers.  July and August workshops will focus on visual arts.  The below song was written in the May and June workshops.  -more info here-

Contributions from people like you are vital to our programs for disabled service members and others who are underserved.  Make a gift in honor of a beloved elder, family member or friend today.  Thank you.
Artist and Caregiver Training
Whether you are an activities director, a home-or facility-based caregiver, a CNA, CEO or somewhere in between, creative engagement can strengthen bonds, lift moods, improve vital functions (lung capacity, core strength, etc.) and much more. We are creating twelve caregiver training modules that convey useful information about the use of the arts with elders.   - More info here -
Transitions - Celebrating D'Arcy Weiss
After more than three years working with our artists and facilities staff, D'Arcy Weiss is moving on, in search of new adventures.  She leaves a legacy of connecting with hundreds  of artists and caregivers. Our programs have been greatly served by her compassion, creativity and dedication.  We will always be grateful to her for her time at Tidewater Arts Outreach.  A search for her replacement in Creative Programs is underway. MaryAnn is scheduling programs in the meantime.
Steve and Christy Stancliff hosted a fabulous house concert for Tidewater Arts Outreach on June 3.  Perfect weather, a lovely location, two great musical acts, board members and dozens of supporters helped raise more than $6,000 in funds and good mojo for our Mission.  Special thanks to the Stancliffs, our wonderful bartenders, musical acts Who We Are Not and Urban Hill Blues Band, and a host of generous supporters.
Service through the Arts - Call to Action
Artists and Volunteers, we want to share your program stories in July and August.  Email your short recap to Anna@TidewaterArtsOutreach.org, or post and tag #TidewaterArtsOutreach on social media.  Help us give your good works a wider audience by sharing on social media. Thank you.
