Tech Goes Home Summer Celebration!


This festive and fun summer event is taking place on Saturday, July 21st at Franklin Park in Boston. This is our second-ever Tech Goes Home Summer Celebration - it's fun for the whole family! Our Tech Goes Home community helps participants gain access to the skills, hardware, and access needed for 21st century success. 

The event is from 10 AM to 12 PM (rain or shine!) and we are seeking volunteers for the 8 AM to 1:00 PM time period.


 Distribute Food at the Red Cross Food Pantry

Saturday, July 14

8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The American Red Cross works to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Boston Food Pantry provides a 3-day supply of emergency food to 4,500 low-income clients per month.

Volunteers will help distribute food to clients, prepare bags of perishable items for distribution, and pack food bags for the next distribution date. All volunteers are REQUIRED to wear sturdy shoes or sneakers. For safety reasons no open-open toed shoes or sandals will be allowed in the warehouse.

Be a Concert Ambassador with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra is a non-profit organization that provides free musical performances to the people of Boston.

Volunteers with be assisting with the opening night performance of Gustav Holst's The Planets. They will help with concert program distribution, patron counting, survey administration, the arrival and departure of elderly patrons and patrons who require accommodations, and the Landmarks Orchestra Information Tent.


Help Out at the Maverick Community Connector

Maverick Landing Community Services in East Boston will be hosting an event to bring together residents from the Maverick Landing Housing Development, The Eddy Apartments, and other East Boston community residents.


ZUMIX, an East Boston-based nonprofit organization dedicated to building community through music and creative technology, will play music and the event will also feature Veronica Robles folkloric dancers and salsa dancing at a main stage in LoPresti Park. It is sure to be a fun, exciting summer event!

Volunteers are needed before the event and during the event to help with event set-up and at event station tables. Volunteers are invited to sign-up for one or both shifts.

Performing annually at the Parkman Bandstand — centrally located, handicapped-accessible and accessible to all by public transportation — Free Shakespeare on the Common has become one of Boston’s most attended annual arts events.


This year's production is "Richard III". Shakespeare’s searing drama chronicles the ruthless ascension of a king and the devastation he leaves in his wake as he gains power over the realm.

Volunteers will be handing out programs and parking coupons, assisting patrons to find appropriate seating, assisting with chair rentals and information distribution, and welcoming patrons to the production.

Join Boston Cares for our 3rd annual block party on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, Thursday, July 19th from 5:00pm -7:30pm!
