11 Confirmation Reception in Fellowship Hall
It's a special Sunday at Brecksville United Methodist Church.  It's both the Day of Pentecost and Confirmation Sunday.

On Pentecost Sunday, we wear red as an outward demonstrations that we can be “On Fire with the Holy Spirit! This is a new tradition at Brecksville United Methodist Church, but a long standing one at other churches.  Was it part of your faith tradition growing up?

It's Confirmation Sunday, and we will welcome six young people, who have spent the school year learning what it means to be a part of The United Methodist Church, into membership in our church. Confirmation is a first step in a life-long journey with God. What does confirmation mean to United Methodists? Read this article (featuring photos of a confirmation service at our church) from United Methodist Communications to learn more.

Want to help plant geraniums in the church yard?
On Sunday, the Sanctuary will be filled red flowers as a symbol of the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost/Confirmation Sunday!  Of the 135 plants ordered, 82 have been designated for planting in the church yard as a summer-long reminder of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Trustees will be planting the flowers at 4 pm on Sunday (Wednesday if the weather doesn't cooperate.)  Come help!  If you have a garden trowel and gloves, bring them along!

The word liturgy comes from the Greek meaning “work of the people”.   Are you feeling the call to become more involved in worship? Serving as a liturgist involves leading the Call to Worship, reading the first scripture,  the offertory invitation and the offertory prayer.  These readings are prepared for you by Pastor Clark and will be sent to you early in the week before you serve.  Everyone is encouraged to participate! If you have concerns about pronunciations, Pastor Clark is happy to help. Summer worship times begin June 3.  The first service is at 8:30 am on the church lawn.  The second service is at 10 am in the Sanctuary.  Reply to this message with the date and worship service time you'd like to serve, or sign up in the Parlor on Sunday!
