Dear friends, At Jewish Home Assisted Living, the sukkah events all seemed to have a “food/beverage” theme and were enjoyed whether they took place in the sukkah or whether the weather drove indoors. Their “sukkah socials”included sangria in the sukkah, sushi in the sukkah and pizza in the hut! Jewish Home at Rockleigh residents began their week with an afternoon of classical music on Sunday, featuring a Joan Gillman. They continue to do Community Choice programming and this week’s choices were bowling and Yiddish Club. I know we use this weekly newsletter to keep everyone up-to-date on resident happenings but I would be remiss if I did not mention the loss this week of one of our long time board members, supporters and friends. Carl Epstein, who passed away on Tuesday, was a voice of wisdom and compassion. ![]() His efforts, as part of a small and committed group of individuals, created the Jewish Home at Rockleigh and his devotion to our organization, and its residents, never wavered. We were all blessed to have known him and will carry his memory and spirit with us always.
All the best, ![]() Carol Silver Elliott

Volunteer Opportunity of the Week
It's not too late to join our dynamic cadre of volunteers who participate in “Opening Minds Through Art” or “OMA”. This cutting edge therapeutic art program, originating from Miami University in Ohio, is designed specifically for our residents who suffer with dementia. No artistic skill is necessary. You will be guided step-by-step through an amazing abstract art project as you work one-on-one with one of our residents. The session begins the week of October 8th.
