Sissieretta Jones was the first Black superstar. She grew up in and retired to Providence, toured the world as a first rate soprano, broke racial barriers, and was the highest paid Black performer of her day.

For 85 years, has rested in an unmarked grave at Grace Cemetery. At the conclusion of the celebration,
we will dedicate a headstone.
