EARLY WEEK EDITION - Issue No. 1,376 Visit ushandball.org & Follow Us: Missouri State's Bell awarded David Chapman Memorial Scholarship It is our pleasure to announce that Taylor Bell of Missouri State is this year's David Chapman Memorial Scholarship recipient. Bell is a junior and has been playing handball just over two years (joining the team her freshman year). "Unlike most people who discover the sport in college, I was lucky enough to have been “bred” for handball," said Bell. "Both of my parents were on the team in the 90’s, coincidentally getting to play with Chapman his freshman year. "Because of my involvement in high school sports, I only knew of the game, never actually beginning to play until college. But now that I have started, I don’t think I’ll ever stop. I’m beyond grateful to have received the David Chapman Memorial Scholarship and look forward to playing handball for many years to come. Go Bears!"

Support for Health & Fitness Clubs The majority of our handball matches have moved outdoors in response to clubs and gyms closing during the pandemic; however, we hope to have our courts and clubs available again when we're ready to safely resume our games inside. With COVID case spikes around the nation this month, many health and fitness clubs are once again forced to shutter their doors. Please consider voicing your support for the Health & Fitness Recovery Act (H.R.8485) which will provide assistance to America's health and fitness clubs. READ MORE...

Ref Corner: You Make the Call... Last Week's Ref Corner Question The server serves a fault, then a legal serve that takes a bad bounce (court hinder) after bouncing good but before the receiver attempted to return the serve, then another fault. How many serves do they have left? What's the correct call? Answer: The server has one fault (or two consecutive screens) left. If a served ball takes an erratic bounce due to a court obstruction or wetness (including before the serve has become a legal serve) a court hinder is called and the serve is replayed. (See Rule 4.3.A.1) Ref Corner Question of the Week ![]() Still in the Service Box... Please first study the Four-Wall Court Diagram. The server (blue feet) serves the ball while standing in the same service box that his partner (red feet) is standing in. Is this a legal serve? What's the correct call?
