Volunteer Leader Training


Monday, February 11th | 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM


Volunteer Leaders are the backbone of the work we do at Boston Cares. The quantity and diversity of projects that are on the monthly calendar directly correlates with the number of active Volunteer Leaders. The course will cover how to lead a project, the functionality of our website, and tips for making each volunteer experience engaging and exciting. Becoming a Volunteer Leader is a great way to increase your impact as a volunteer and gain leadership skills!


Judge a Citywide Debate Tournament for High School Students


Saturday, February 9

7:30 AM - 12:30 PM


Volunteer judges listen to students, providing vital reinforcement for the notion that students have valuable ideas to contribute to society. After the debate, judges offer encouragement, share advice for the next round, and tell the tournament organizers who won.



Distribute Food at East End House Pantry


Tuesday, February 12

11:30 AM - 2:00 PM


Volunteers set up/clean up the pantry space, help receive weekly produce donations, and assist clients as they choose their own groceries from our available fresh produce and shelf-stable foods. After pantry is over, volunteers also help set-up grocery bags for senior citizens or families in the EEH, depending on the day.  


Help Organize Boston Public School Libraries


Thursday, February 14

9:30 AM - 1:00 PM


Boston Public Schools Library Services provides centralized support for Boston Public School communities as well as central leadership to schools and departments to ensure that library media centers play a core role in achieving academic targets. Volunteers will be moving, sorting and organizing books back onto the shelves following the Dewey Decimal System. Some lifting may be required.


Prepare and Serve Food for BostonWarm


Monday, February 18

10:00 AM - 1:30 PM 


BostonWarm shelters provide critical practical, personal and nonjudgmental support for hundreds of unhoused neighbors throughout winter. Volunteers are needed on Mondays to help prepare and serve a warm meal to guests seeking shelter. Volunteer duties may include serving the meal, cleaning up in the kitchen, keeping drink stations stocked. Volunteers should be able to stand for long periods of time.
