Team ReStore
Dropbox Derby Challenge
Our very own ReStore  team competed against 26 others at the Dropbox Derby September 3. Each team was allotted a bundle of salvaged materials and challenged to build a themed design in just four hours!  Kellee Anderson (Gresham ReStore), Phil Gerigscott (Vancouver Store), Kirk Rea (PDX ReStore) and Graham Conaboy (Gresham ReStore) collaborated to conjure up this eclectic design. The event was sponsored by Lovett Deconstruction with proceeds going to Oregon Tradeswomen.

There's a lot to do!

Empty nesters, there's a place for you at the ReStore. Try your hand at checking in donations, pricing, organizing and displaying merchandise. There are other opportunities, like riding with donation pickup crews.  If crowbars and hammers are more to your liking, consider volunteering in our Salvage Service department.

It's easy to get started. Go  to for details.

John Lassen's
Bed-frame easel
Take a look at what John Lassen built from a weathered king-size Ethan Allen bed frame and a door! John, who has 15 years of computer graphics, says he does all his projects in Photoshop, first photographing each piece, then reassembling it digitally.  "My processes are born out of necessity," he says. "I think how am I going to design this? How about this?"The bed had received just the right amount of patina after spending a winter partially covered outdoors, John claims.

Back to school desk

Theresa Clement of MyFixUpLife has put together step-by-step instructions on how to upcycle jewelry box drawers to create a fun and functional school desk. Who wouldn't want to sit in front of this arrangement while tackling multiplication problems. It's pretty sweet and easy to do, too. Check it out and see what you can create from affordable materials purchased at the ReStore!
