Iowans for LIFE Annual Fundraising Banquet
"Standing Ground: NFL Pro Says No"

Keynote Speaker - Matt Birk - NFL Champion for LIFE

Matt Birk is an NFL star and a pro life warrior who stands up for his beliefs. The Catholic boy from St. Paul was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 1998 draft.
He was named the 2011 Walter Payton NFL Man of the year for his off-the-field service, as well as his playing excellence. After a 15 year career in the NFL and a Super Bowl XLVII win with the Baltimore Ravens, the six-time Pro-Bowl Center retired from playing football and accepted a position with the National Football League as it's Director of Football Development.
When the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2013, he declined to meet President Barack Obama with his teammates due to a comment the President made in a speech in which he said, "Thank you, Planned Parenthood and God Bless you." Birk stated, "It was because of my Catholic faith and my pro-life convictions, but ultimately, it was because of my kids."
Matt and wife Adrianna are raising seven children, all under age of 14.

Encouraging. Uplifting. Life saving!

Thank you to Geneveve Loraditch and everyone who put so much time and effort into making the midpoint rally happen!

Iowans for LIFE Associate Director Mary Sojka had the privilege of being one of the speakers at the midpoint rally on Sunday, March 19th. This much needed rally encouraged those in attendance to press on in these 40 days of prayer, fasting, and many hours witnessing outside Planned Parenthood. Steve Karlen, Director of North American Campaigns traveled to Des Moines for the rally and spoke about his own witness over the years as he has seen the power of prayer and witness. Steve spoke of the Planned Parenthood centers that had been closed at the end of a campaign because the prayers of the faithful were heard and answered. The rally ended in front of the Planned Parenthood on Army Post road as the group sang Amazing Grace (pictured above). As we sang Amazing Grace we remembered each one of us are here because of the love shown to us by our Savior. May we give our lives for the unborn and innocent as Christ gave His life for us, the sinner.

The Coalition is unifying the pro-life movement!

Since the Coalition of pro-life leaders began, the group has been strengthening the pro-life movement here in Iowa. The nine leaders of the coalition have unified not only themselves but also many pro-life organizations around the state and that number is growing! In the beginning there were two supporting groups, Catholic Conference and Lutherans for Life, that number has increased to 30 organizations. As we unify we become stronger. Do you know an organization that would want to be a part of this coalition? Have them contact one of the leaders by clicking the link. Let Iowa be unified together as a strong pro-life state.
