LET IT GO, WE CAN TAKE IT!
BIDDERS WELCOME! SILENT AUCTION:
Sometimes you browse through the ReStore and you'll find a designer label lamp or a brand new Kohler sink. Other times you find an intriguing piece of history. That's what this is: A glimpse into the past. WWII Ration Books. According to the National WWII Museum "Every American was issued a series of ration books during the war. The ration books contained removable stamps good for certain rationed items, like sugar, meat, cooking oil, and canned goods. A person could not buy a rationed item without also giving the grocer the right ration stamp. Once a person’s ration stamps were used up for a month, she couldn’t buy any more of that type of food." Get a closeup look at these and think of a time when much of our food was shipped overseas to feed our soldiers. And back home...well, we just had to make do. Bidding on these books begins today to 3pm March 29. SPOTLIGHT MEET OUR NEW RETAIL DIRECTOR: Behind those Foster Grants is a man with a mission. Our new retail director, Caleb White, has been with Habitat for almost 10 years. There's a lot to know about Caleb, who began his tenure at the Portland Metro ReStores January 2. For instance, he owned his own web design business, he's a dad, an avid golfer, a hiking enthusiast, kitchen guru and a hip hop music producer. Tenacious and goal-oriented, as manager of retail operations for South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity Caleb helped grow the business by over 600 percent - from building fewer than two Habitat homes each year to building almost 10. He now has deep plans for our ReStores, plans that not only include improving the donor and shopper experience, but expanding into the world of e-commerce. Can he do it?

![]() ReStore business partners are critical to the success of our stores. With their support, we offer outstanding value on quality products every single day! This month we want to especially thank the following ReStore business partner:
Quality Inn in Wilsonville is working with Deacon Construction to get a brand new look! Before demolishing the hotel, Quality Inn donated 82 rooms full of gently used hotel furniture including lamps, sofas, dressers, nightstands, decor, desks, and chairs.
Items now available at ReStores in Portland, Beaverton, Gresham and Vancouver.
AFFILIATE NEWS PORTLAND METRO EAST: We’re excited to introduce a new volunteer engagement opportunity through our Team Builder program for business groups: The Playhouse Experience. Having a safe place to play is important for every child. That’s why the Playhouse Experience invites teams of volunteers to assemble and decorate children’s playhouses, which are then donated to families through our partner nonprofit, The Dougy Center. Volunteers can show off their creativity by decorating each playhouse to fit the fun theme chosen by the recipient family.
Limited slots are available—schedule now!
