Spring into May fun at the Library!

Summer Quest 2018 is Coming!

Theme - Libraries Rock!

Open to kids entering grades Kindergarten - 8th


Motivate your child to read over the summer months and participate in enrichment activities that encourage their diverse passions and interests.  Join the Summer Reading Club to be eligible to earn medals, food coupons and/or prizes for time spent reading.  In addition, don't miss the many exciting classes, programs and events we have planned to rock your summer days and nights!  Check out our reading programs for high school students and adults too.  There is something for everyone at the library this summer!


Mother Goose Fair

Mother Goose Live

Register for one of these special live visits with Mother Goose and her goose.  Before or after this live session, stop by Freedom Hall to visit the fair filled with lots of free fun. 

Engineering Workshop

Saturdays, May 5, 12 and 19 · 2-3pm

Explore structures, robotics and programming with hands-on activities and team projects in this special workshop designed for middle schoolers.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Book Discussion

Join us for a book discussion of the 7th and final Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  We'll talk about the book, play trivia and do other fun activities.  Pizza will be served.  Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book in advance.

Junior Friends Meeting

Preschool Explorers

Eplore science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) at this hands-on program for preschoolers.  This month's theme is Flowers and Plants!  Registration required

SUPER Fun Friday

Friday, May 11 · 2-3pm

On this UM early dismissal Friday, explore a fun STEM topic with your friends in this interactive, hands-on program.  Educators from Briar Bush Nature Center will bring 4 live animals for the kids to learn about and see up close and personal.  For more info on this nature center, visit their website at  Don't miss this special animal event!

GSK Science in the Summer

Online Registration starts Tuesday, May 15 at 12pm

Program will be held July 16 & 17 OR July 18 &19

Grades 2-3:  10am-12pm

Grades 4-6:  1pm-3pm


This fun and free science education program is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline and administered by The Franklin Institute for kids entering grades 2-6. The Science of Space invites children to see the sky above them.  Through active, hands-on learning, students explore the sun's energy, the phases of the moon, human survival in space and how rockets overcome Earth's gravity. Classes are small with 16 students each so register early!

Yoga Story Time

Tuesday, May 15 · 1:30-2:15pm

This program incorporates a child's love of books with movement.  Children will explore the positive effects of yoga throughout this story time with a focus on following instructions, increasing attention span, finding ways to relieve frustration and expanding creativity,

Family Gaming Event

Saturday, May 19 · 11am-4pm


Freedom Hall


Come with your family to enjoy "Gaming" at the library.  We will have board games and video games - feel free to bring your own too!  Stop by anytime between 11-4.  Light refreshments will be served.  Registration required.


Library Closed


The library will be closed on Monday, May 28 in honor of Memorial Day   We will reopen on Tuesday, May 29 at 9am.
