And we're off! Our most important fundraising campaign of the season is underway! It's MYChoir (IMC) spreads the joy of MYC far and wide inspiring support and expanding awareness of MYC throughout the community (and beyond!).

A 2020 Family Guide with step-by-step instructions was sent home with singers on Monday night. Singers in our Sunday ensembles will receive theirs at rehearsal this weekend but if you want to get started right away (and why not?), you can read the complete guide on our website: madisonyouthchoirs.org/itsmychoir

The Family Guide is designed to help you set a goal and stay on track for these next five weeks as all of us think about why MYC is important to us and share our enthusiasm with family and friends.

What To Do Before Rehearsal this Weekend:
  1. Read through the guide with your singer and make a plan. Bring your Golden Ticket to rehearsal or a note with your name on it indicating you have read the guide and are making a plan. Golden Tickets can also be turned in the weekend of February 23 as well.
  2. Decide you're going to participate! It's easy once you get started and you'll be helping us reach our goal of 100% participation.
  3. Review your progress toward your family fundraising contribution and set a goal to reach or exceed it! Statements will be emailed to families by Friday afternoon.

Thank you for paying attention to your fundraising progress and participating in this campaign. We recommend posting the guide on your refrigerator or an equally visible place at home where it will remind and inspire you to do the next step!
Open House Rehearsals | Celebrating Our New Space
On Sunday, February 23, and Monday, February 24, we will be hosting our annual Open House Rehearsals when parents are invited to attend the first portion of their singer's rehearsal, observe the magic first-hand, ask questions, and then enjoy social time with other MYC parents.

We hope many of you will take advantage of this opportunity to observe your singer's rehearsal to gain a better understanding of MYC's rehearsal process and educational priorities all while enjoying the music and celebrating our beautiful rehearsal space with cake and coffee. Please plan to attend!

P.S. Just a reminder that our regular rehearsals are always "open" and you're always welcome to slide in and observe. These Open House rehearsals include the opportunity for you to ask questions and, of course, have cake. :)
MYC Intergenerational Choir: Time to Join!
Cantabile | Ragazzi
Cantabile and Ragazzi singers are invited to sing with our Intergenerational Choir at the Capitol Lakes Retirement Community for our Spring 2020 session. This project brings Madison Youth Choirs to the residents of Capitol Lakes, creating an innovative musical ensemble that demonstrates the importance of creative expression at every age. The Intergenerational Choir is now in its sixth year and has expanded to include MYC alumni and parents of Cantabile and Ragazzi singers. We are looking forward to another wonderful shared music experience!

Cantabile and Ragazzi singers (and their interested parents!) attend four evening rehearsals and a special culminating performance with the Capitol Lakes residents. All rehearsals and the performance are at Capitol Lakes:

Wednesday, March 25, 6-7pm in Capitol Lakes Grand Hall
Thursday, April 2, 6-7pm in Capitol Lakes Grand Hall
Tuesday, April 7,  6-7pm in Capitol Lakes Health Care Auditorium
Wednesday, April 15, 6-7pm in Capitol Lakes Grand Hall
Friday, April 17, 6pm call for dress rehearsal; 7pm performance in Capitol Lakes Grand Hall

Invitation to Singers Still Open to Join MYC Board
The board of Madison Youth Choirs has identified an opportunity for high school MYC members to have meaningful involvement in the governance of the organization. Current freshman, sophomores, and juniors who are in at least their second year of participation with MYC are encouraged to share their unique voice as a student board member. Students selected to this position will commit to participating in monthly MYC board meetings contributing their perspective while gaining insight into MYC's governance and acquiring non-profit board experience. This is a non-voting student position.

Applications are due February 23 and we anticipate a decision will be made by March 15. Up to two new student members will be welcomed at the April 16, 2020 board meeting.

This is a unique opportunity for a student with deep enthusiasm for MYC and a keen interest in contributing to MYC's success outside of the rehearsal room!
