Gresham ReStore
NOW OPEN!

We did it! The new Gresham ReStore officially opened June 16! We're just hitting our stride. The first two days we were open in Gresham, we had 178 transactions. Last Monday alone we had 191. We're getting to know the community and looking forward to planning events and workshops at the new location. We hope you'll be part of the effort. Shop. Donate. Volunteer. And check pdxrestore.org for news and updates.

Irissa Johnson
A place for Pickles

Fair warning: This story is not a happy one - but it's far from over. Meet Irissa Johnson (a.k.a. Pickles). She has been neglected, she has suffered abuse, she has been homeless, she has 'died' on the operating table.

She has experienced a lot of hardship in her life so far, but she's indomitable. And it looks like her story may get a happy ending after all

FLOORING All Year Long
Contract Furnishings Mart

This month we're celebrating business partner Contract Furnishings Mart.

For several years now each of Contract Furnishings Mart's six Metro area locations frequently donates carpet, tile, sheet vinyl and laminate hardwood flooring to The ReStore. When they pull up, we know it's going to be something outstanding.

Thanks for supporting Habitat ReStores, Contract Furnishings Mart!

Macy's: Lookin' good!

Have you noticed the beautiful new furniture at the Gresham ReStore? Some of these fab pieces came from the local Macy's department stores. Lovely, contemporary upholstered chairs, sofas and tables are showcased in vignettes around the store. We're sitting pretty 'cause of you, Macy's!
BTW - Did you  know furniture is the Habitat ReStore's number one bestseller? If you're remodeling or downsizing, consider donating to The ReStore. Schedule a donation pickup online at pdxrestore.org/donate

From bed to bench:

Washington County volunteer Mark Brown built this cute little bench from a twin-size headboard. Add a splash of bright blue paint to the seat - and it's ready to go!
Get ideas and share your own upcycle projects on our Facebook page. We'd love to see what you're up to!

WILLAMETTE WEST:

In Ethiopia where most women are not educated, where young girls are often forced into marriage, Eyerusalem dared to dream.
Instead of believing the people that told her to stop dreaming so big, Eyerusalem continued to picture a better life for herself. As Eyerusalem got older, her dream of owning a store in Ethiopia was replaced by a dream to come to America.  In 2006, she decided to make her dream a reality.
