August 10. Workshop for Church Musicians, Pastors, and Others.The Synod Worship Team and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM) are co-sponsoring a workshop for church musicians, pastors, and others on Saturday, August 10, at Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown, PA. The event is titled "Doing Common Things Uncommonly Well: Assembly Song." It is one of a series of events that ALCM is doing this year under the name "Hearts.Hands.Voices." September 21. Youth Fest 2019. “Not Ashamed: Living Out and Standing Up for the Gospel of Faith!” Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville. Come join us for a day of faith, food, and fun. The day will include faith building sessions, yummy food, music, art, cooking workshops, and sports activities. Sponsored by the Youth, Young Adult, and Family Ministry Team. View a flyer. October 5. We Love: Building Safer & More Welcoming Congregations for LGBTQ+ Youth and Families. 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter, Bethlehem. A day to learn more about how to make your congregation safer and more welcoming for people whom the church often excludes. Workshops by Reconciling Works, Bradbury Sulivan, and more. Keynote speaker: Jamie Bruesehoff from the ELCA Youth Gathering. Registration is $15.00 (includes lunch). Scholarships are available. Camp Noah Is Quickly Approaching!

August 19-23

Planning is underway for Camp Noah at New Creation Lutheran in North Philadelphia Aug 19-23, 2019! There are tons of fun activities are being planned for the kids, many of whom are new residents to Philadelphia following Hurricane Maria. To make the camp a success, we need your help! Sponsorships are available for things like:

  • Custodial services provided by New Creation
  • Gifts for volunteers and campers at the close of camp
  • Basic supplies like Sharpees, Table cloths, & other odds and ends for camp

We also need:

  • Pop up tents!
  • Time! We can use some support volunteers daily to help with clean up and set up, and registration
  • Cases of water, plates, bowls, & cups

We are still recruiting our volunteer team for that week. Volunteers need to commit to all five days of camp, and will receive a $100 stipend at the close of camp! P/T Organist/ Choir Director (6-28)

PT Organist/ Choir Director is needed for vibrant Lutheran Congregation known for its music ministry. Organist/ Choir Director is responsible to provide music for All Sunday worship services including special holidays. Experience with Lutheran Liturgy and hymnals (incl ELW) preferred. Person will work cooperatively with other church musician directors (handbells and children’s choirs). Salary commensurate with experience and includes two-week vacation. Organist and/or Director of Music is needed at Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, Exeter Township, PA. Two positions or may be combined into one position. Organist responsibilities include all church services (normally one Sunday morning service plus special services/holidays) and accompanying choir(s) one evening per week. Part-time position estimated to average 10 hours per week. Director of Music is responsible for 3+ choirs, hand bell choir, directing summer youth music and drama camp (one week), coordinating, overseeing, maintaining and growing musical aspects of the church. Part-time position estimated to average 15 hours per week. Director of Christian Education (4-1)

Grace, Shillington seek a part-time Director of Christian Education, 25 hours per week; specific days and hours are negotiable. The Director of Christian Education will oversee, coordinate, and administer the Christian education of Grace children and youth, and participate in community outreach to support the growth of the congregation. Bachelor’s Degree in education, ideally with an emphasis on religion. Teaching experience is preferred. Clearances and background checks are required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to communicate with children according to their age level and ability to understand, and possess good organizational, planning, and leadership skills. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. Compensation is commensurate with experience and education. Huff’s Union Church, Alburtis seeks a trustworthy employee who will be responsible for keeping buildings secure. Duties include light maintenance and cleaning of buildings on our campus. Experience with room set-up and maintaining supplies. Must be good with verbal communication and be able to work unsupervised. Also needs to maintain knowledge of schedules and events for buildings. St Mark, Bethlehem Township offers a part-time (10-12 hrs/wk) position maintaining our church. Responsibilities include weekly cleaning and maintenance of the church, unlock church for Sunday service and special services. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent; subject to background check; good organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; possess working knowledge of the methods, techniques, and materials used in custodial work. F/T Chaplain (3-21)

Luther Crest, Allentown is seeking a full-time chaplain. General Responsibilities: Responsible for providing spiritual leadership and spiritual services to residents, families, and staff. Visits all nursing care and personal care/assisted living residents upon admission/ move-in and at least quarterly. Maintain notes for each visit on the chart of each resident in the nursing care center and personal care/assisted living. Provides and/or coordinates worship opportunities for residents, e.g., weekly and special worship services, Bible studies, communion (group or private), bedside prayer.
