Beefin' Up The Eagles
 
 
 
 
On Friday, Southern Miss football players enjoyed a BEEF meal hosted by Mississippi Beef Council along with Mississippi Cattlemen's, and Farm Bureau Life Insurance. Market Notes
 
 
 
Prices were a few dollars lower on average across Mississippi last week. Receipts at Mississippi Auctions continue to outpace 2016 levels. Receipts totalled 29,278 head over the past five weeks – 10 percent above the same period in 2016.

Southern Producers Replacement Heifer Sale
 
 
 
 
On Saturday a large crowd was on hand for the 16th Annual Southern Producers Replacement Heifer Sale in Hattiesburg. The sale averaged $1823 on 253 head of heifers consigned from twelve producers. 
 
 
 
 
 
Cattlemen's College Dates Set
 
 
 
Make plans this fall to attend one of two Cattlemen's Colleges that MCA will be hosting. The first College will be held in Brookhaven on October 26th and the following day at Batesville in conjunction with the North MS Beef Expo. The programs are free to the public. Both programs will offer workshops on marketing, forages, animal health, and much more. 
Pre-register for Cattlemen's College will be open soon.

Make plans to attend the 2017 Mississippi Beef Expo to be held December 1-3 at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson, Mississippi.

Storm Update
 
 
 
Tropical Storm Harvey Update: Harvey is expected to back up into the Gulf today and eventually make a second landfall later this week. The latest forecast has the possibility of the center moving over Mississippi bringing heavy rain. Please stay tuned for updates and our prayers continue to be with all of SE Texas.

Hurricane Harvey Wrecks Southeast Texas
 
 
 
Cattle producers in Southeast Texas are reeling from Hurricane Harvey that made landfall around Rockport, Texas. 
The storm not only brought high winds, torrential rains, but tornados and flooding as well. 
Please keep producers in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks as they begin the long cleanup associated with the storm.
