Educational Retreat Series: Spirituality and Addiction

October 24

The Lehigh, Northern Lehigh Valley, and Bethlehem/Easton Mission Districts are sponsoring a five-week educational retreat series on addiction within the context of the Christian community. This week’s two-hour session will examine our spiritual nature and how and why spirituality is an important part of recovering from any addiction, whether food, work, alcohol or drugs. Oftentimes the use of a substance is a misguided attempt to quench a spiritual thirst or craving. We will explore the missing piece to the puzzle of our lives, the God-shaped hole within each of us and the only real way that this void can be filled. Wednesday evening from 7:00– 9:00 PM at Nativity Lutheran, 4004 West Tilghman St., Allentown, PA 18104. No pre-registration needed.

November 17. Class for Lay Persons. 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. This year our Lay Classes will begin with a focus on preaching. As much as we would like to think these messages come naturally, a lot goes into them. Please plan to join us for the Lay Class on November 17, “Preaching the Different Gospels,” taught by Pr. Mark Rigg. Click here for a full description. It will be held at the Lutheran Center. The cost is $10 and can be paid the morning of the event; but you must register by Wednesday, November 14 by calling Pastor Mary Gade at 610-266-5101.
