This coming Monday, August 6, will be the first day of school for students at the Davie County Early College High School, with the rest of the Davie County Schools' students returning on Monday, August 27. With that in mind, we wanted to share with you some back to school information and some summer learning resources for those who want to get a head start on the school year.

Back to School forms will be available August 1 for parents and guardians to complete online for their children. Parents will receive an email or a letter from the school with access information. Parents are encouraged to complete these required forms with their children as soon as possible before Open House. If you have any questions or have problems completing the process, please contact your school.

We hope you enjoy the rest of the summer and wish you a very successful 2018-2019 school year!

Bus Information

Please be on the lookout for school buses and students waiting for buses beginning Monday morning, August 27. Please also remember the North Carolina stop arm laws. We have buses equipped with "stop arm cameras" that record video both inside and outside of the bus to help aid in prosecution of drivers who pass stopped school buses. This link shows who must stop when approaching a stopped school bus with the Red Lights & Stop Sign activated.

Please pay attention to the driver of the bus. They will be communicating with students using hand signals to let them know when it is safe to cross the road. The danger zone around the bus is described here, and other pertinent safety information can be found on the school bus safety website.

We encourage parents to attend open house to get the most current stop locations and times if their children plan to ride the bus. Routes change daily as we continue to update ridership information, therefore stop times are not listed on the website.

If parents or guardians have questions about their child's ridership information, they should contact the School Bus Coordinator at their child's school by phone or email. It may take several days to establish a new stop if your child is not currently assigned to a bus stop, so thank you for your patience as we work through a large volume of requests this time of year. Parents should register their child to ride the bus during the online PowerSchool registration.

We have a WebQuery available that parents can access from our school websites. Once bus registration information for the new school year has been updated, you will be able to type in your address to see the closest bus stop, bus number and approximate stop time.

It is imperative to observe the speed limits within school zones during the posted times. A new roundabout at I-40 should help with traffic flow on Farmington Road, so be aware of new traffic patterns in this area.
