This Week's Parashat: Bereshit

God creates the world and everything in it in six days and rests on the seventh. (Gen 1:1-2:3)

Adam and Eve are placed in the Garden of Eden, where they eat the forbidden fruit and are subsequently exiled. (Gen 2:15-3:24)

Adam and Eve have two sons, Cain and Abel. Cain kills his brother, Abel. (4:1-24)
Adam and Eve have another child named Seth. The Torah lists the ten generations from Adam to Noah. (Gen 4:25-5:32)

God regrets having created human beings and decides to destroy everything on earth, but Noah finds favor with God. (Gen 6:5-6:8)

Movie Night!

The Programming Committee of Temple Beth Miriam presents Dinner and a Movie on Saturday night, October 27, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with a showing of "The Women's Balcony", an Israeli film which was a New York Times and Los Angeles Times Critics Pick and Israel's #1 film of the year.

An accident during a bar mitzvah celebration leads to a gender rift in a Orthodox community in Jerusalem. A good hearted tale about women speaking truth to patriarchal power. Preceding the film will be an Italian dinner catered by Nick's Grill and Restaurant of Wanamassa.
