August 21. Campus Ministry Affinity Meeting. There will be a campus ministry affinity meeting at the synod office on Wednesday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m. This is for anyone who is interested/involved in campus ministry. Examples are Trinity’s ministry with Kutztown and St. Peter’s with Lehigh. Among the things the affinity group does is allocate funds made available through witness and service. Any congregation who is reaching out to a local campus is invited.

September 21. Youth Fest 2019. “Not Ashamed: Living Out and Standing Up for the Gospel of Faith!” Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville. Come join us for a day of faith, food, and fun. September 21. Class for Lay Persons. “The Orderly Account: St Luke’s Gospel.” Pastor David Strobel will lead the class in a brief study of the Third Gospel to discover Luke’s distinctive purpose, message and portrait of Jesus. Class meets at the Lutheran Center, 2345 Grove Road, Allentown from 9 am-12 noon. Any member or friend of a NEPS congregation is welcomed to attend. Cost is $10 and can be paid the morning of the event, but you must register by Monday, September 16 by contacting Deacon Marlane Druckenmiller (marlane@nepsynod.org).

October 5. We Love: Building Safer & More Welcoming Congregations for LGBTQ+ Youth and Families. 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter, Bethlehem. A day to learn more about how to make your congregation safer and more welcoming for people whom the church often excludes. Workshops by Reconciling Works, Bradbury Sulivan, and more. Lutheran Historical Society of Eastern Pennsylvania
Fall Pilgrimage

September 21

The Lutheran Historical Society of Eastern Pennsylvania is holding its fall pilgrimage at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 25 E. Church Street in Sellersville. The date for this event is Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. St. Michael's Congregation is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. The program will begin with registration at 10 a.m. and will continue with an outline of the early roots of St. Matthew's formation and development. Lunch will be served at noon at a cost of $15.00 per person. After lunch there will be tours of the Church and the Sellersville Cemetery. On June 26, 2019, a listening group was convened by the ELCA Domestic Mission unit in Chicago to help inform the process for creating a new document to replace “Vision and Expectations.” As part of the community of the community of believers, you are invited into a process of asking what the church needs. Grace, Shillington seek a part-time Director of Christian Education, 25 hours per week; specific days and hours are negotiable. The Director of Christian Education will oversee, coordinate, and administer the Christian education of Grace children and youth, and participate in community outreach to support the growth of the congregation. Bachelor’s Degree in education, ideally with an emphasis on religion. Teaching experience is preferred. Clearances and background checks are required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to communicate with children according to their age level and ability to understand, and possess good organizational, planning, and leadership skills. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. Compensation is commensurate with experience and education.
