National Day of
Prayer VIDEO

It is a blessing to join Europe Teen Challenge this week for their annual conference in Wieliczka (near Kraków), Poland. The keynote speakers are Rev.Gary Wilkerson and Dr.Ron Brown. TC in Europe is now in its 49th year with an unsurpassed record of success across Europe.

Since its beginning in 1969, Europe Teen Challenge has grown to include programs in 37 countries with more than 2,000 full-time workers and volunteers. There have been great developments in Greece, Malta, Israel, and Belgium with only a few countries in Europe where no TC work exists: Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, and Montenegro. ETC is currently working on "re-setting" the TC works in Spain, France, and Iceland.

We appreciate your prayers as we will have an opportunity to communicate with leaders from over 40 nations to identify needs, best practices and evangelism strategies to engage the emerging post Christian culture of Europe with the absolute truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
It is always an honor to be a part of the Tidewater expression of the National Day of Prayer. This year the leadership moved the gathering from the Hampton Convention Center to the Southside at Rock Church's 5,000 seat sanctuary in Virgina Beach. Pastor Neverette Yarbough,(Harvest Ministries), Rev Russell Evenson, (WOW Worship Center) and Bishop Ann Giminez hosted a powerful time of intercession for our cities, region and nation.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. We joined 100's of thousands of believers, from across the US, to repent, pray for unity and trust God.

National Day of prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988 , the law was amended and signed by President Reagan, designating the NDP as the first Thursday in May. Is is a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible. Click for history of the National Day of Prayer.

Here is a 2 minute look at the Tidewater National Day of Prayer Celebration, where nearly 100 pastors were involved, Join Pastor Bernie as his prayer was a small part of the Tidewater expression. Special thanks to Ed Ellington for the photographs and all that sent cell-phone videos.

Real Security

Nevertheless, I will bring health
and healing to the city; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant
peace and security.
Jeremiah 33:6

As we count down to the Summit with North Korea and wade through the arguments about a "trade war," have you noticed now many of our headlines contain the word security? No matter where you turn, you see Social Security, homeland security, cyber security, school security, national security, personal security and even eternal security. The dictionary defines security as "freedom from care, anxiety, and fear; or precautions taken to guard against harm."

We live in a dangerous world, obsessed with security. School shootings, terror attacks, escalating opioid addiction, and political uncertainly are only the tip of the iceberg. This unsafe world is more dangerous than the leaders of our government project, more perilous than you can imagine and more insidious than most realize. Homeland security cannot promise real safety, Social Security is bankrupt, and "cyber insecurity" is running rampant in our elections and political landscape. Truthfully, many experts project that we are just one "hack" from the collapse of the infrastructures we take for granted. The unfortunate reality is that the security that the world offers is merely an illusion, "emotional fool's gold" because our only true security is found in Jesus Christ. It is in His love and His promise.

In addition to the visible dangers, there is an unseen enemy whose clandestine armies prowl, seeking to attack. Natural tactics, no matter how rational and well-thought-out do not offer viable solutions to spiritual problems. As politicians search for political solutions to senseless shootings, they ignore the barrage of blood, guns, and violence that bombard our senses every day. In television, movies and video games violence is exalted as human life is devalued. Immorality and perversion are exalted as individuality and lauded as heroic. Integrity and values are degraded as naive and foolish. In a world seeking natural solutions, Satan continues to exploit his insidious, covert supernatural agenda undetected by the powers of the age. But we are not defenseless against this onslaught.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Eh 6:11,12

Only Jesus Christ offers ultimate and eternal security—the kind that removes fear from the core of our hearts. Hebrews 6:19 (NIV) says, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure."

In an insecure world, the only true security is found in the faithfulness and omnipotent power of our heavenly Father who offers us contentment, peace and abundant life --real security both now and forever.

As we prepared to travel to Poland, it was a blessing to be able to participate in the 101st Council of the Potomac Ministry Network (formerly Potomac District Council of the Assemblies of God). It was a wonderful gathering for powerful worship, intense prayer, and tremendous teaching from Dr. George Wood.

After months of prayer, vetting and reflection, the Holy Spirit set aside Rev. Frank Potter and his wife Lisa as the new Superintendent for the Potomac Ministry Network.

We are so excited. He is a man of prayer and spiritual insight. He has been a faithful and anointed prophetic prayer partner for Cathy and me for nearly a decade. Please pray for his leadership as he casts vision for our Potomac Ministry Network that embraces a diverse and varied population.

The network of ministers and churches impacts communities from the political halls of power in Washington DC, to the affluent suburbs of bustling cosmopolitan areas, and the wearing poverty and violence of the inner city. From the international urban populations to rural farms and miners in Maryland and West Virgina, from liberal influences of huge universities with a global reach to our huge military population here in Virginia, we have a prophetic mandate to reach the lost. Please join in praying with us, for a mighty outpouring of God's Spirit, as the Potomac Ministry Network goes into our Potomac corner of the world, AND BEYOND, to preach the Gospel and make disciples.
Mike & Kay Zello Celebrate 50 Years of Ministry
A highlight of the 101st Network Conference was when Mike and Kay Zello were called forward. They were recognized, to a huge standing ovation, for 50 years of anointed ministry. A true patriarch in the ministry of Teen Challenge. Mike first served David Wilkerson on the streets In New York City at the age of 17. During summer outreach, he met Kay and God did an amazing work in them. Mike played his trumpet in street outreach with Brother Dave. He and Kay were integral developing some of the literature that was used for the first teen challenge outreach in the 60s.
Mike is an ordained Assemblies of God minister and has served with Assembly of God World Missions, Home Missions, as pastor, and a compassionate leader. He has been a true Teen Challenge pioneer . He founded Capitol Heights Teen Challenge. He was a key visionary leader, serving on the national board of Teen Challenge USA for many years and worked with Don Wilkerson as he pioneered the ministry of Global Teen Challenge. Mike's anointing has carried him across six continents teaching, pioneering, and serving Teen Challenge ministries worldwide to touch the lives of addicts. From India to Africa to Europe, they have left a trail of hope and miracles Please keep them in your prayers. We are so grateful to have had the privilege of serving with them in the TC ministry.

If they can't find hope we must make certain that hope finds them. Dr. Jacobus Dominoes, GTC Africa

Again I say
unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done
for them of
my Father which is in heaven.

1) Massive Call to Prayer for Kim Jong-Un Meeting in May
Over 80 American Christian leaders from a wide spectrum of traditions are now calling Christians to prayer for North Korea in preparation for the historic May meeting between Presidents Trump and Kim Jong Un!  Read about it in Charisma or in the Christian Post News. You can sign here to add  your name the call to prayer. Anyone can sign this. Please sign--especially if you head a ministry. The lists of all who have signed is here.

This is in addition to a 40 Day Worship event in South Korea starting on April 29th for unity between the Korea. A Korean YWAM student named Mark from Hawaii started this! This needs to go international since it affects much of the world!  Here is one such call for international prayer that has already gone out for April 28th.
You can also sign up for this one at the 40 Day Worship event site.

2) Pray for compassion

For President Trump as he meets with the crew from Southwest Airlines Flight 1380.

  • For grace and healing for the families of the passenger who perished in the accident as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
  • For wisdom for the president and his cabinet as they meet to discuss national concerns.

2) Johannesburg, South Africa April 16-23

It was wonderful to be with Dr. Jacobus Nomdoe, the Global Teen Challenge Africa Regional Director In Johannesburg and we are truly excited about all that God did at the All Africa Leadership Intensive. Please pray for God's continuing vision and provision as leaders came from across the continent and for a fresh view on how we can bring the claims of the gospel to bear on Africa.

Please pray as the team there begins to identify a facility and to develop plans for our new Africa regional office. We desperately need a base of operations to coordinate the ongoing strategic initiatives of GTC Africa.

3) MISSION SOS- Global Teen Challenge partnership.

We are so excited about the upcoming MISSION SOS outreaches in Malawi (June) and in Rwanda (July) The Africa Capital Cities Tour continues to engage nation's capitals across the continent, speaking truth to power and hope to those seeking answers. The ministry of Rev Johannes Amritzer transcends religious differences and brings a unique message of hope through Jesus Christ. We are helping to engage with SOS Kids as well as SOS AID which is bringing medical care to people in need.

In just a few weeks the SOS caravan will leave Tanzania with a convoy of vehicles, carrying two containers, weighing 8 tons each, laden with sound reinforcement, staging, video, lights, and literature. Please pray for safe travel and smooth border crossings as they head for the outreach in Malawi, hoping to arrive on June 10.

Have you prayerfully considered joining us for one of these incredible festivals as an individual or with your local church or Teen Challenge center? Write bernstuff@aol.com

4) MISSION RESULTS-Praise and Prayer-

As I walked through the airport this week, a man suddenly ran up to me and hugging me exclaimed, "Do you remember me?" It was a joy to see Ivan.
I am always happy to meet TC folks but was so blessed when he shared, "You trained me in evangelism so many years ago. I was one of the first graduates of Serbia Teen Challenge. Thank you!" He said, "I'm still in the battle." We talked about Al Perna and Dennis Griffiths and rejoiced in the airport.

You have helped us to reach thousands of nameless, faceless TC men and women, serving "anonymously" around the world. The headlines may not report their names, but heaven rejoices in their obedience, and hell trembles at the power of the message that they bring in the name of Jesus around the world. You sent us and you have a hand in the blessing.

He told me of his work in Cyprus and shared video about his ministry . He gave me a dropbox link, but I cannot share or post on Internet for the safety of the the ministry there because some people in it have fatvah on their lives and might endanger them. I wish I could share the selfie!  Let us pray for his continuing work as well as TC workers who labor around the world.

Pray with us for the global advance of the gospel. Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 120 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in over 32 new nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT. We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet PRACTICAL needs.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples,
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send
out workers into His harvest.”
