Summer Quest 2018!

Theme - Libraries Rock

June 18 - August 31

For students entering grades K-8

 

Motivate your child to read over the summer months and participate in enrichment activities that encourage their diverse passions and interests.  Join the Summer Reading Club to be eligible to earn medals, food coupons and/or prizes for time spent reading.  Don't miss the new and improved reward/prize system for Middle Schoolers this year too. 

 

In addition, please join us for many exciting classes, programs and events we have planned to rock your summer days and nights!  Check out our reading programs for high school students and adults too.  There is something for everyone at the library this summer so stop in and sign up today.


Middle School Monday Night
Monday, July 16· 7-8:30pm
For students entering grades 5-8 
Little Theater

 

 Monday nights are all about fun this summer. Hang out with friends while helping the library!  Middle School students are invited to join us for a short book discussion, Library Jeopardy (a trivia game based on the books you read) and then a Junior Friends meeting.  The book discussion books are Booked (by Kwame Alexander) or Hello, Universe (by Erin Entrada Kelly).  No registration required.

 

Beach Detective Workshop

Tuesday, July 17 - 6:30-7:30pm

For students entering 5th grade and up

Got the urge to go to the beach?  Let us bring the beach to you!  Don't miss this fun event where you will learn about seashells and get up close and personal with live beach animals from the Adventure Aquarium.

Read to the Dog

Love dogs?  Love reading?  Sign up in the library for a 10 minute slot this summer to read to our very friendly reading dog, Star.  Register in the library 

 

 Girls in STEM

For girls entering grades 3-5

 

Join us for a  fun STEM activities night!  Girls will have the opportunity to put their problem-solving skills to the test as they complete teamwork challenges and learn more about careers in science, technology, engineering and math.  To be part of the random lottery for possible attendance, register here.
 

Let's Get Messy Art Workshop

Friday, July 20 · 11am-12pm

For students entering grades K-3

Learn new art techniques while having fun. Kids should bring a smock or wear messy clothes since we will be using paint, glue and other cool art supplies.  To be part of the random lottery for possible attendance, register here.

Cool off and enjoy learning more about important early literacy skills through stories, music and a lively puppet show. Register for each story time separately.  Registration required.

Explore science, technology,engineering, art and math in this hands-on program especially designed for preschoolers!  This month's theme is Bubble Magic.  Registration required.

Get prepared to be creative!  Come experiment with making different musical instruments.Stations will be set up so you can create your own instruments out of various craft supplies and everyday household items.  Registration required.

Come gather around to listen your way through various instruments and to learn about each one of them!  No registration required.

 

Literary Lunch

Bring a bagged lunch and come to the library to discuss some great books, participate in activities based on the book and play a trivia game.  The book we will be discussing this week is Last Day on Mars (by Kevin Emerson).

TECH GIRLZ:  3D Jewelry Design with Tinkercad

 Thursday, July 26 · 6-8:30pm

For students entering grades 6-8

Learn about the basics of 3D modeling, the different types of professional 3D modeling software available and leave with an understanding of how small jewelry designers use 3D to design and manufacture.  Students will also be shown online websites for ordering 3D prints too.  To be part of the random lottery for possible attendance, register here.
