Volunteers Needed for the GRRAND Affair

The GRRAND Affair is only weeks away and volunteers are working hard to make last minute preparations for the fundraising event that has traditionally allowed GRRAND to keep operating for the upcoming year. The event is scheduled for Friday, November 3rd and volunteers are needed to work that evening from approximately 5:30pm until closing at 10:30 or 11:00. Although volunteers are primarily responsible for working the event, they are still able to enjoy dinner and other aspects of the evening. If you would be interested in volunteering for this year’s GRRAND Affair, please contact Jane Sonntag, GRRAND Affair Volunteer Coordinator, at beaufortsbo@bellsouth.net. Please contact Jane by October 7th.

Purchase GRRAND Affair Sponsorship and Tickets

You can still purchase GRRAND Affair sponsorship for the event that begins at $250 and includes 2 tickets to the event and your name displayed in the event program.  Single tickets are also available at www.bidpal.net/GA2017.

Thank You Sponsors and Donors

GRRAND sincerely thanks everyone for sponsoring the event, donating live and silent auction items, and attending the GRRAND Affair!  The GRRAND Affair raises the majority of the annual funds necessary to rescue and rehabilitate goldens throughout the year.  The event would not be possible without our loyal supporters! We’d like to give a special thanks to our Presenting Sponsor, the Sam Swope Family Foundation, and our In-Kind donors seen below.

Don't forget that GRRAND has a convenient “Wish List” of items routinely needed at the kennel that directly help GRRAND dogs and those who care for them.
GRRAND is particularly looking for the grooming items for the new kennel.
You can find GRRAND’s wish list on Amazon. It’s simple and easy, and Amazon will send the items right to GRRAND so donors do not have to bring them in or send the supplies themselves. Put your Prime membership to good use and help make a difference for GRRAND dogs awaiting placement in a foster home.

Simply go to Amazon.com and select Lists, then Find a List or Registry. Search for GRRAND to view the wish list of much-needed items. When you are ready to checkout, just select GRRAND’s Gift Registry address to make sure the items are shipped to GRRAND.

Greta is looking for a new Foster Home

Greta is a super sweet girl who loves being with her foster family and gives kisses whenever possible! She is friendly and affectionate and enjoys meeting new people. She is good with children and shows a lot of patience, even with the very little ones. She is content to relax inside, but also loves playing in the backyard or just lying in the grass by herself. She is house-trained and not destructive when left alone, and she knows some basic commands. She is energetic and absolutely loves going on walks. She will need an above ground fence. She will need a home where she is the only pet. She would love to find her forever family!

9.15.17 Foster Home Update: We have had Lannis for a couple of months and she has really blossomed. Her broken leg has healed. She doesn’t even limp anymore and boy can she run. But when she gets tired, she comes in and goes to her crate. She loves her space and sleeps there all night. Also, she does not get on furniture. She loves to go on car rides. She just sits and looks out the window. Her weight has increased, and she now weights 42 pounds. Lannis is trustworthy when left alone in the house. Hugs are high on her list as favorite things, she just stands very still for them. Being the only pet in the house is a must, and children over 8-9 in the household. She also needs an above ground fence. At night she goes out and checks to make sure everything in ok.

This poor little girl has been through a lot! She has a broken leg from a gunshot, and part of her tail is missing. Not being fed and who knows what else she has endured, but thanks to GRRAND this little dog (40 pounds) is on the mend!
In her current foster home, they have two other dogs, and feel a home without other dogs would be best for her.
Lannis is a really sweet girl. And she deserves a home willing to give her a lot of love and we are sure she will give love right back!
Note: NO CATS for this girl.

Our beautiful Turkey Goldens
have arrived in Louisville.
Welcome to your new life, pups!

GRRAND is in critical need of home visit volunteers for the Louisville area. We are looking or folks who have good communication skills, are able to convey a good amount of information in a concise manner, are comfortable meeting new people, and are aware of the needs of rescued dogs. We will provide you with training and materials and you would then shadow other home visit volunteers prior to doing visits on your own. If you would be able to consider helping with this task, please contact Jane Sonntag (beaufortsbo@bellsouth.net).

TRIVIA NIGHT FUN!

On September 22, GRRAND hosted its annual trivia night at Saints Pizza! The Church table, with team captains Stephen and Diane, placed 1st, while the Koestel table followed in 2nd place! A tail-wagging thank you is also extended to all our participants (94 total!!) and our volunteer scorers (Terri & Steve Udelhoven) for making this event a huge success.
