The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told (Friday)
Flung into the future by a bumbling sea witch, a crew of misfit pirates have only one chance of returning home - by performing the greatest pirate epic ever seen on stage! There's only one problem - half their script is missing! Help the crew fill in the blanks and watch as they improvise a brand-new musical adventure based on your suggestions. $25, adults; $15 students/ages 6+.

The all-volunteer McKinney Community Band presents a concert full of mood, drama and excitement that will include a wide range of musical styles, from the epic Carmina Burana to the wild fun of Lassus Trombone. 7:30-9 p.m. No tickets required. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The Guitar Sanctuary and Godin Guitars present a special concert with Legendary Guitarist Doyle Dykes at 8 p.m.; doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $15-150. Doyle has developed a distinct, recognizable sound that amazes audiences with skill while capturing hearts with sincerity and soul. The Sanctuary Music & Events Center, 6633 Virginia Pkwy. Art Exhibit Opening
This collection of photographs by Guy Giersch (shown) and Don Simmons tell a story about the quest to experience the world we live in through the lens of a camera. It is a journey that involves taking the time to see by focusing on a small piece of the American landscape. The Cove, 402 N. Tennessee. Free admission. See website for hours.

Dinosaurs Live (Thru Feb. 19)
They're back! Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and eight new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary’s nature trails at the 9th annual Dinosaurs Live! Life-size Animatronic Dinosaurs at the Heard Exhibit. Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, 1-5 p.m. Included in general museum admission.

Nature Story Time (Friday)
Designed primarily for young children and introducing a different nature-themed book each week, these programs are included in the general admission. 10:30-11 a.m.

North Texas Butterfly GardenWalk among native butterflies and other pollinators. Open during normal museum hours; included in general admission. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ticket Sales Open for Halloween at the Heard: This event on October 15 this year always sells out. Members may start buying tickets on Thursday, Sept. 29, and the general public on Friday, Sept. 30.
