Over the past eight years, Judy Gelles has interviewed and photographed more than 300 fourth grade students from a wide range of economic and cultural backgrounds in China, India, South Korea, England, St. Lucia, Italy, South Africa, Nicaragua and multiple areas of the United States including Toppenish, Washington. She asked all of the students the same three questions: Who do you live with? What do you wish for? What do you worry about?

The Fourth Grade Project connects children locally and globally. 4th Grade Stories is made possible through a grant from the Fresh Hop Group.

David Johansson

David Johansson is an artist from Seattle, spent formative years in the Yakima Valley. Johansson has a B.A. in art and is inspired by the vitality of the human spirit and the dualism of city and rural life. The Artist Within – A Different View of Dementia.
After David Johansson's artwork comes down a remarkable exhibition takes its place.
The Artist Within – A Different View of Dementia.
Surprising, delightful and inspiring art by vibrant people, 60-101, living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other Dementias. This extraordinary artwork is a revelation, opening hearts and minds to a different way of thinking about dementia, enabling us to see that people living with dementia are still here, living with dignity, creativity, and joy.

Essentially Delma
February 3-24, 2018
Opening Reception: Feb 3rd, 11-4 pm

Even if I don't have a show coming up, I have a compulsion to make art. I like to "work large". For 22 years I spent time every year in a condo in Hawaii which restricted me to smaller pastels, watercolors, and drawings. Some of the pieces in this show are from that era, beautifully matted and framed by Jackie Prout and most have not been shown. The larger oils are more recent up to last month. -Delma
