Attend the Corps Kickoff!
Saturday, September 16th 9:00am-3:00pm

The Corps program combines Boston Cares’ signature flexibility with a focused commitment to an impact area, and the resources to make a measurable change. Corps volunteers commit to volunteering at the same partner site twice a month. Volunteer activities include: leading conversation groups for English Language Learners, helping to facilitate classes on basic technology, and tutoring and mentoring youth! Select a Corps, pick a site, and volunteer twice a month!
The Boston Cares Corps Kickoff will introduce new members to the Corps program. This is a great time to meet other members, and speak with site partners!

Volunteering for all ages! Join our monthly goCreate projects to craft in-kind donations for local organizations! goCreate is an initiative to engage youth volunteers in service. Each month we offer a unique goCreate session in the Boston Cares office where volunteers work together to create a project or craft that is then donated to one of Boston Care's community partners. This goCreate will be creating fun cats toys out of yarn and t-shirts to be donated to Phinney's Friends!
Don't miss this fun and easy opportunity to help cats have fun!
**Please bring any old t-shirts you may have! We will re-use these and make them into the cat toys!

More than 1,500 Greater Boston school children do not have a bed, which affects their self-esteem, ability to learn, and likelihood of graduating from high school. These children are sharing beds with other family members, sleeping on the couch, or sleeping on the floor.
The Bed Project engages teams of volunteers to assemble bed frames and prepare them for distribution to partners across New England – organizations who are directly serving low-income families in need or transitioning out of homelessness, and children in the foster care system.  As participants in The Bed Project, teams of volunteers work together to craft a quality wood bed frame for those in need.
Volunteers can sign up as individuals or groups, with a requested donation of $150/volunteer to support the program and supply costs.

In 2015, in partnership with Points of Light, the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Citi Foundation, Boston Cares became the local host of the national ServiceWorks Program, providing a service-oriented curriculum to Opportunity Youth ages 16-24 as a pathway to building skills for college and career. Through professional skills workshops and academic trainings, youth participants will learn valuable 21st century work skills and gain an understanding of important community issues. In the past two years, Boston Cares has engaged over 750 yourh as ServiceWorks Scholars

Boston Cares seeks an ServiceWorks AmeriCorps VISTA member to support this innovative training program.  As a VISTA in this exciting program, you will have the opportunity to shape programs that support youth on their path to reaching long-term school and career goals and improving their communities. VISTAs will build community volunteer capacity to expand anti-poverty services and programs available to youth.
