Who else speaks for the family of man?

- Carl Sandburg

Worship with us this Sunday!
8:30 Worship on the Lawn. 10:00 Worship in the Sanctuary.
It's going to be a great Sunday morning!  Come hear Pastor Clark's message on the lawn at 8:30 or in the sanctuary at 10 am, then join us for a fun all church family picnic at 11:30 on the lawn.  (If it rains, we'll move to Fellowship Hall.)

It's Ordinary Time! But "ordinary," as the term is used in the Christian calendar, does not mean "business as usual." Instead it refers to the "ordinals" or "numbering" of Sundays after Pentecost. (This is the Second Sunday after Pentecost).
Sunday's Message:  Division and Family
Sunday's Scriptures: Psalm 130 and Mark 3:20-35
Sunday's Announcements:  Read them here!
Sunday's Music:  Click here for a playlist of songs for the services.
Did you miss last Sunday's Message?  Hear it here! (Scroll to the bottom of the page.)
We’re having a picnic!  Join us on the church lawn this Sunday (June 10) at 11:30.  We’re providing hot dogs and refreshments. Bring a side (last name A—M) or dessert (last name N- Z) to share. Everyone's welcome for some tasty food and good company. The Fellowship Committee is hosting and look forward to seeing everyone there!  Reply to this message if you're planning on coming, so we'll be sure to buy plenty of hotdogs!

Join Jenny Gee and friends as we discuss The Great Spiritual Migration by Brian McClaren on Friday, June 15 at 7 pm.  Need a copy?  There are several available to borrow in the church lobby.  McClaren argues that the Christian story, from Genesis until now, is fundamentally about people on the move—outgrowing old, broken religious systems and embracing new, more redemptive ways of life and that it's time to move again.  Join us in The Parlor to discuss this and more!
We Have T-Shirts!   Help celebrate our bike ministry in style - wear a BUMC Bike Ministry t-shirt! They'll be on sale Sunday morning, and are also available to purchase during office hours.  Shirts are $20, and any additional dollars you might be willing to donate will be put toward fixing more bikes for those in need.

The word liturgy comes from the Greek meaning “work of the people”.   Are you feeling the call to become more involved in worship and the work of the people? As a liturgist, you will lead the Call to Worship, and read the first scripture, the offertory invitation and the offertory prayer.  These readings are prepared for you by Pastor Clark and sent to you early in the week before you serve.  Everyone is encouraged to participate! If you have concerns about pronunciations, Pastor Clark is happy to help. Summer worship times begin June 3, with services at 8:30 and 10 am.

Ushers are needed for 10:00 service June 17 and 24.  Liturgists needed for both services on June 24.

An invitation from Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church
You are invited to attend "Art Connections 2018", an art exhibit that we've created to highlight the talents and gifts God has given us, and encourage appreciation of those gifts. Many different forms of art will be displayed, and nothing is for sale. The event is Saturday afternoon, June 23rd, from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Come, enjoy the art, the fellowship, refreshments, and live music as you stroll through the exhibit at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9201 Brecksville Rd, Brecksville.
The bins were emptied this morning, so there's lots of room in them right now for your old newspapers, magazines, and (broken down) cardboard. THANK YOU for supporting hunger ministry by recycling at Brecksville United Methodist Church!
