Prayers for the Entertainment Industry
Happy November HPN!

We are still celebrating the 72 hours of prayer over Hollywood last month, that started with the most dramatic lightning we’ve had in years. We know God is moving miraculously here and we're so thankful to be a part of it. So, let’s keep praying for the people, the projects and the issues in Hollywood!
Messages from The Grinch

Let’s celebrate the messages in the upcoming film The Grinch which opens this weekend. A big takeaway from the story, says producer Janet Healy, is the "power of inclusion, diversity. Also, the importance of community and tradition… But, even more so there’s the redemptive power of forgiveness. Not only at Christmas, but for all of us, it’s a time to make the world a better place." Let’s praise God for the messages in films that touch hearts all across the globe!
Pray for Hollywood's middle class

Pray for the new environment of television, where writers and actors are scrambling for work in order to make an annual living, while companies are spending billions of dollars on new content. It’s a complicated situation that needs God’s intervention!
Pray for women in the Japanese industry

The directors of the recent Tokyo International Film Festival hope to be a part of the conversation regarding women in the film industry. So, let's pray that in their future search for talented filmmakers, the festival directors will also recognize the well-qualified women. Pray also that the Japanese film industry can provide stable and fair working conditions for women and that God would do great works through the entire creative and entertainment community in Japan.
Pray for the influential Variety500

Pray for the Variety500, the 500 most influential business leaders shaping the global $2 trillion entertainment industry. This extensive index of incredibly impactful people is a ready-made prayer list, so pray with us that each one of these leaders would know God’s love and grace. Pray also for the great influence they have on the worldwide industry and global cultures.
Pray for the impact of VetFlicks

Pray for the launch of VetFlicks, an innovative and inclusive nonprofit content platform, this Veterans Day, Nov. 11th, celebrating U.S. veterans through film. VetFlicks has programmed two days of exclusive veteran content at both the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Ask the Lord to use films to encourage our veterans.
Pray for new leadership in media

We want to be continually praying for the new leadership coming into all areas of media in Hollywood. Each decision-maker has tremendous influence on what the world is watching, so our prayers for them can make an eternal difference – both in their lives and in our entertainment. Here are three companies with new leaders to pray for:
• Snap Inc./Snapchat: Jeremi Gorman, Chief Business Officer and Jared Grusd, Chief Strategy Officer MORE INFO>>
• New Line Cinema: Daria Cercek, Executive Vice President of Production MORE INFO>>
• Warner Bros.: Several staff cuts and executive promotions MORE INFO>>
Thank you so much for praying with us. We hope that you have thankful hearts this month and know that your prayers for Hollywood are making an eternal difference, both in the hearts and lives of the people here, but also in the entertainment that you’re watching!

With thanks,
Karen, Erin, Kim and Virginia

HPN board member Phil Cooke's tips for creative freelancers:
"From them will come songs of thanksgiving and the sound of rejoicing. I will add to their numbers, and they will not be decreased; I will bring them honor, and they will not be disdained."
Jeremiah 30:19
by Josh Larsen>>
"Movies can be many things: escapist experiences, historical artifacts, business ventures, and artistic expressions, to name a few. I'd like to suggest that they can also be prayers."
"Sow a thought and you reap an action, sow an act and you reap a habit, sow a habit and you reap a character, sow a character and you reap a destiny. If you want to change any area of your life, it has to begin with your thoughts first."
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
HPN's new 7-day devotional is available on the YouVersion app. This week our topic is DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. We chose to tackle this difficult issue because "domestic violence affects one in three women and one in four men, globally.” A friend, who is a recovering victim, helped with this devotional. Join us in praying for freedom and healing for all victims.
