First of all, we want to send you our heartfelt holiday greetings. Each year, our staff takes a photo at one of our tourism partner locations. This year, we visited Mitas Hill Vineyard & Winery which is a popular wedding and meeting venue as well as a restaurant and wine bar. 2015 Rave Reviews
This year has been a remarkable one when it comes to press and industry reviews. We wanted to share a few of them with you here so you can see what's being talked about in McKinney:

  • ConventionSouth Top 50 in 2015 Designation:  “After a lengthy review of what McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau now has to offer meeting planners and attendees, we feel it indeed displays a superior commitment to providing groups with the top-of-the-line amenities and service that they require.” Read more here.
  • Livability.com's Best Beer Cities List: McKinney ranked #85 on this list of 99 cities across the nation. They cited McKinney's two breweries, Franconia and TUPPS, both of which are available for corporate events and parties in addition to regular tours and tastings.
  • Growing Dining Scene - Rye: We wanted to share this review of downtown McKinney's newest restaurant, Rye, from Dallas Eater.

News/Upcoming Events:
Winter in McKinney
The winter months in McKinney offer some interesting events as well as opportunities for unique Consider planning your meeting during one of these special McKinney events for an added memorable touch and for built-in entertainment for your group.

Dinosaurs Live (Thru Feb. 21): Yes, robotic dinosaurs might seem like "kid stuff" but the Fall months at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary are the perfect time to hold weekday team building sessions on their ropes course and zip line. The MCVB will assist you in facilitating a program designed specifically for your needs at this beautiful nature preserve, then enjoy a walk on the nature trails where you can commune with these life-sized prehistoric creatures!

Krewe of Barkus (Feb. 7 - pictured above): Embarking on its 14th annual successful year, Krewe of Barkus promises to be a howling hoot. In past years, more than 200 dogs participated in the parade alongside more than 4,500 spectators in awe of costumes, creatures and creativity. Patterned after the Mystic Krewe of Barkus in New Orleans, which was established to help abused and abandoned canines, Krewe of Barkus will feature a parade, vendor booths and prizes for costumes.

Travis Tritt in Concert (Feb. 5): This world-renowned country artist is coming to McKinney. Tickets are already almost 50% sold, so if you want them, get them now. The McKinney Performing Arts Center is a terrific venue as the 425 seats make it a very intimate environment and just about every seat feels up-close-and-personal! 

Specials/Holiday Events
New Year's Eve at Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen: Musical guest Pat Peterson will be performing while you enjoy a special menu created just for this event - three courses for $55. Reservations are required so call now to reserve your table! Starts at 5 p.m.
 
 
 
 
 
New Venues/Properties & Coming Soon
Among the new and coming properties in McKinney are:

Piazza on the Green (Craig Ranch, pictured): NOW OPEN! This new venue offers beautiful space options for your corporate events. Overlooking one of the greens at the renowned McKinney TPC golf course in Craig Ranch, the view and the facility itself provide a unique setting for your event. Reserve a spot at their winter open house on January 10, 3:30-6 p.m. by calling 214-383-2500.

Townplace Suites: COMING SOON! This new extended-stay property from Marriott is set to open mid-January just north of the Hwy. 75/121 southern gateway to the city.  Suites include full kitchens and complimentary Wi-Fi. A free hot breakfast buffet will be served daily, a modern expanded fitness center, 24-hour In a Pinch Market, Business Center, Outdoor Pool and a BBQ Grill area are all part of what makes for a memorable stay at this McKinney hotel.

Holiday Inn Express: UNDER CONSTRUCTION - Now under construction in Craig Ranch just off Alma and 121. Anticipated completion and opening is mid-to-late 2016.
