This Saturday: Food Pantry and Clean-Up Day

This Saturday we have two special opportunities for families to volunteer at church together. We invite you and your family to participate in either or both!

First, you can help assemble and distribute 150 bags of groceries to individuals and families in our community at our Food Pantry, Saturday morning from 9:30-11:30am. Email Frankie at salsafrankie@gmail.com if you can come help out.

Next, this Saturday is also our Clean-Up Day hosted by our Property Committee. We're inviting everyone to come help out -- families too! --  as many hands will make the work lighter and more fun. We will do dusting, window cleaning, pew cleaning, and other woodwork. You can sign-up here for one or more of the two-hour cleaning shifts: 11am to 1pm, 1pm to 3pm, or 3pm to 5pm.

We're looking forward to serving the community and sprucing up our space together this Saturday. Hope you can join us!

This Week at Sunday School

This Sunday is Pentecost, the day when we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us that on the day of Pentecost Jesus' followers gathered together in one place, and God sent the Holy Spirit to give them the power to teach about Jesus. They couldn't see the Holy Spirit. So how did they know the Holy Spirit was there?

When they were filled with the Holy Spirit, they could speak in languages that they didn't even know, so that they could tell everyone about Jesus. They couldn't see the Holy Spirit, but they could feel the power of God in their life. The Holy Spirit is still with us today. How do we know the Holy Spirit is here? Where do see the power of God at work in our lives? What can we do to honor this great gift God has given us?

Let's explore it together at Sunday School! We'll begin at 10:05am this Sunday in the sanctuary.

Summer Suppers Pre-Event

Our Summer Suppers pre-event on Sunday, May 28 gave all present a chance to share the unique background they bring to Advent. Wonderfully diverse individuals, coming from many parts of the world and all walks of life, have found their way to Advent, where God is weaving together our unique passions and stories in amazing ways.

This is the reality of our new intergenerational, bilingual program, Summer Suppers. It calls young and old, English-speakers and Spanish-speakers to the same table to know each other better through dinner, worship, and Bible study.

The intergenerational aspect of this program makes it an especially great opportunity for families. It will connect children with teens, adults, and people who share their faith, but speak a different language, in exciting new ways.

The event also officially launched registration for Summer Suppers. If you will be around on Wednesdays this summer, we invite you to register for Summer Suppers at this time! You can view the full schedule and register online on our website, or pick up a registration form on the back table in the sanctuary.

Summer Suppers will be on Wednesday evenings from July 12 through August 16, is open to all ages, and will be in both English and Spanish. Participants are welcome to arrive any time during dinner from 5:30-6:30pm, AND we have an optional time just for toddlers before from 4:30-5:30pm. Register today!
