The Pairing Series "Hues and Blues"  John Bramblitt + Cast of Blues

The first exhibit in the Pairing Series, "Hues and Blues" pairs paintings by world renowned blind painter John Bramblitt (shown above right) with The Cast of Blues Exhibit from Midwest Arts Alliance featuring interactive touchable casts by sight impaired sculpturer Sharon McConnell-Dickerson.  9 a.m.-8 p.m.

Join the all-volunteer McKinney Community Band, now in their 11th year, for an afternoon of patriotic music. Make a day of it by grabbing lunch or dinner on the square before or after the concert. 3:30 p.m. FREE.
 
 
 
 
 
Bailey, DeWitt, Bruu & Quaid

A group exhibit dedicated to the stunning accomplishments of four artists whose meticulously created art presents animals or objects with heightened clarity and detail - Helen Bailey, Noriko DeWitt, Bob Bruu and Pete Quaid. Friday, 7-9 p.m. (panel discussion at 8 p.m.) and Saturday, 6-10 p.m. at The Cove, 402 N. Tennessee.

Celebrate the Fourth of July with a full day of free hometown fun for the entire family. The City of McKinney’s Red, White and BOOM! Offers free family activities, live entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show Tuesday, July 4.

Story times are designed for young children, introducing a different nature-themed book each week. 30-45 minutes depending on the book. 10:30 a.m.
 

Native Texas Butterfly House & Garden (Now Open)
Walk among free-flying native butterflies and other pollinators in our Native Texas Butterfly House & Garden, which opens for its summer season on Saturday. This exhibit is open only during regular operating hours.

Creating Your Butterfly Nursery (Tuesday)
Learn how to prepare your “nursery” (garden) for the next generation of beautiful butterflies. We’ll walk you through the basics, including what they will lay eggs on, what the caterpillars need to eat and how to support their parents. May not be suitable for children younger than 10 years.
