Davie County is truly a generous community. We have received notice of a few Hurricane Harvey relief efforts underway in our community. In addition, communications have been received from the superintendent in Houston. They are planning to go back to school on September 11. With 218,000 students, they have over 50 schools with major damage and 30,000 students will be moved to other schools.
In partnership with the Winston-Salem Journal and Christy Trucking, DCS will lead a coordinated effort to support the areas most affected by Hurricane Harvey, collecting student and teacher school supplies. We ask that you consider making a donation in this effort. Donations can be dropped off at any of our schools September 7-16. You may also make a monetary donation directly to the Houston Independent School District. Thank you for helping make a difference in this time of need.
