Farm Talk this Saturday
5/23 10 am in the Hayloft

This week's Farm Talk is all about your garden. Our organic farmer, Andrew Spollett, will talk about natural ways to care for your garden. He will discuss different plants that you can grow in your garden to encourage native beneficial insects for natural pest control. Plus he will be available to answer any questions about your garden - and he really knows what he's talking about!

This talk is free and open to everyone.
Free coffee, tea and farm-baked goodies will be available.

What's New in the Tomato Patch?
Last year's foray into the new Artisan Series made everyone so happy, we are doing it again, but in a bigger way!  We love these, not just for the taste, but because they are produced by a small breeder who concentrates on growing crops for small growers and local markets like Bartlett's Farm.  The unique colors and shapes help create a beautiful plate that tastes delicious.  Because they are planted in the controlled environment of a greenhouse, you can look forward to these in early July! In the meantime, the regular beefsteak-type hot house tomatoes should be red and in the market around May 30th.   Field tomatoes should be ready in early August.

Try this Wine and Cheese Pairing of the Week
Domaine Champy Auxey-Duresses.
Situated in the heart of the Cote de Beaune, the limestone marl soils of Auxey Duresses are ideal for the Chardonnay grape and here you find great aromatic intensity with bright fruit backed by a stony minerality and hints of smoke. The palate is fresh and lively with fruit foremost and the oak well integrated. Hard to say (oaksy duress!) this great little wine offers excellent value.

Ewephoria Sheep Gouda, pasteurized sheep’s milk, The Netherlands.
The punny name that only makes sense in English should give it away. This semi hard “gouda” was made for the American Palate.
Sweet, nutty, milky and just sublime!
The single producer of pasteurized milk is much smaller than most export sources - the farmer's wife posits that the sheep 'eat better than her children' on lush pasture surrounded by a nature preserve. The Cheese makes a blissful snack with drinks like Sherry or Porter and is delicious melted on toast or shaved over salads.
