Volunteer Leader Training

Image

Thursday, October 11 | 6:00PM - 7:30PM

Volunteer Leaders are the backbone of the work we do at Boston Cares. The quantity and diversity of projects that are on the monthly calendar directly correlates with the number of active Volunteer Leaders. The course will cover how to lead a project, the functionality of our website, and tips for making each volunteer experience engaging and exciting. Becoming a Volunteer Leader is a great way to increase your impact as a volunteer and gain leadership skills.

To qualify for this training, you must be a current Boston Cares member who has attended at least three Boston Cares Calendar Projects.

Judge a Citywide Debate Tournament for High School Students

Friday, October 12

3:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Saturday, October 13th

7:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Volunteer judges listen to students, providing vital reinforcement for the notion that students have valuable ideas to contribute to society. After the debate, judges offer encouragement, share advice for the next round, and tell the tournament organizers who won.

With a student to judge ratio of only 4:1, this is a great opportunity to get some hands-on experience working directly with some amazing students.
No debate experience is necessary to be an effective judge.

At MLCS, we know there is a great need for organizations to mobilize local volunteers. With the influx of new residents and constant demand for volunteer assistance in several non-profits, educational facilities, and grassroots efforts that make #Eastie so unique, now is the right time to come together with several other #Eastie organizations in the name of civic action and local volunteerism.
