Prayers for the Entertainment Industry
Greetings, HPN!

We are so grateful for your prayers and financial support throughout the year. We hope you know that we wouldn't be here without you. We ask that as you pray through this week's Call Sheet prayer requests, you will prayerfully consider joining our Hollywood Prayer Network Giving Team as well. Anything you give is a tax deductible donation and directly helps the ministry we do in and through Hollywood. Thank you so much for your prayers and for whatever you can financially give to support the work of HPN. Your generous partnership means the world to us and to the people we are reaching out to in Hollywood!
Give to HPN
Laurence Fishburne's faith

Let's praise God for the wonderful actor, Laurence Fishburne, and his unwavering faith in God. Laurence started acting professionally at age 10 and has been working ever since. He is most known for his role in The Matrix, but we want him to be most known for his deep-rooted love for God! He portrays it in a recent film Last Flag Flying and yet he lives it out every day. Would you pray for the Lord to lift Laurence up and give him continued wisdom, strength and favor as he shows up every day as salt and light in Hollywood.
Partnership in London

We praise God that HPN is partnering with a wonderful ministry in London called The Haven. in order to build a stronger community of creatives between London and Hollywood. Its founding leader, Rev. Peterson Feital, is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is the first Missioner to the Creative Industries for the London Diocese, as well as the first theologian in UK researching on Theology and Fashion at King's College London. He loves ministering to and encouraging creatives, and we want any of you in the London area to reach out and join this ministry.
Kanye West

Pray for Kanye West after the release of his new album Jesus Is King. Kanye is a controversial figure, and the responses to his new music have reflected that. But we want to encourage our HPN community to respond first and foremost with prayer for Kanye and for the spiritual impact of his album. Let's pray for Kanye, his family, and his journey of faith; pray for his pastor and his spiritual mentors; pray for his holistic spiritual and mental health; pray for the music industry and the influence of this album; and pray for God to be at the center of everything, from Kanye's personal journey to the way that his music and art can touch people's hearts around the world.
Pray for actors

New research and anecdotal evidence shows how acting can affect the brain when actors "get lost in a role." This just shows the impact that creativity and performance can have on us personally! As you read about this research below, pray that actors would be protected from any negative influence on their minds from a role that they play. Pray also that the positive influence of a role would stick with them, and they could have opportunities to experience the love, truth, and beauty of God through the characters and stories they embody.
Jamie Lee Curtis and sobriety

Let's pray for Jamie Lee Curtis. She recently spoke about her process of sobriety, being open about her past addictions, and about how powerful it is to acknowledge addiction openly: "The secret, the shameful secret, is the reason why it is such a pervasive illness in our industry — in every industry, in every socioeconomic stratum, in every country in the world. It is the secret shame that keeps people locked up in their disease." Let's thank God for her honesty and for her commitment to help and support others in their recovery. And please pray with a loving heart for all the creative professionals who are struggling with addiction, so that they can find a trustworthy and supportive community through which they can experience the love of God in their healing process.
Pray for those who want to leave L.A.

Pray for those who come to Hollywood and get consumed by loneliness, discouragement and fear, and then leave L.A. defeated. For those who leave, it comes down to the same reasons: L.A. is full of transient, superficial people and it's hard to find friends; the traffic is horrible; people care more about their careers than about each other; it's too big, too scary, too lonely, and too isolating. We have found through the years that the most successful weapons of the enemy are isolation, discouragement, and fear. Pray for God to help authentic, encouraging communities and friendships flourish in the entertainment industry and that our Christian community in Hollywood will be more empowered to be at the forefront of making L.A. feel like a place of belonging for those who are lonely. As you pray, watch these videos below by people who have decided to move away.
We want to thank you so much for being a part of HPN. Please pass on our information to your praying friends and know that every time you pray, you are changing the world. HPN's newest YouVersion devotional on JEALOUSY & ENVY is now available. How many times a week do you feel jealous? Either a quick thought about your neighbor's cool car, the raise your co-worker got, or wanting a loving spouse like all of your friends have… Whatever it is, it's a struggle that can lead to sin. This week let's delve into the meanings of jealousy and plan our attack to beat it, embrace it, or use it for God’s glory.
