The Hillbenders' "The Who's Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry" (Saturday)
This classic of classic rock has now been fully realized as a full length bluegrass tribute featuring Springfield, Missouri’s The HillBenders. Reserved seating: $35 adult; $30 senior; $25 student. 8-9:30 p.m. at McKinney Performing Arts Center Courtroom Theater, 111 N. Tennessee.
Paul Dowidchuk Benefit Concert (Sunday)
The Guitar Sanctuary presents a special benefit concert for Paul Dowidchuk featuring Tommy Katona and Texas Flood, the Maylee Thomas Band, Saints and Sinners (Whitesnake tribute), and Swan Song (Led Zeppelin tribute) at 3:30 p.m. (Doors open at 3 p.m.) at The Sanctuary Music & Events, 6633 Virginia Parkway. Paul is a special friend of The Guitar Sanctuary and through this concert, we are raising funds to help him with the tremendous costs he and his family are facing as a result of the treatments he is receiving for lung cancer. VIP Tables with seating for 4 directly in front of the stage are $150 per table. Downstairs Seats are $30. General Admission (Standing Room Only on the main floor and balcony) tickets are $15. Tickets are available online.
Chinese New Year Cooking Class (Thursday)
Kitchenwares on the Square hosts another fun cooking class, this week's session being in honor of the Chinese New Year. $49 per person. 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 213 E. Louisiana. Call 469-301-6659 to reserve a seat in class.
Artist James Mason is the co-owner of Dragonfly Studio Creations with his wife Barbara J. Mason. James has enjoyed taking photographs most of his adult life. Recently he has chosen to create an aspiring professional quality of work. His photographs are images taken from life experiences and international travels. James is always looking for cloud patterns, majestic sunsets and skyscapes that are quite prevalent here in Texas. Clouds can have a calming or menacing affect depending on the weather or time of day.  Friday, 6-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, 5-9 p.m. The Cove, 402 N. Tennessee. Free.
