New Volunteer Orientation Leader Training

New Volunteer Orientation (NVO) Leaders are vital to the work we do at Boston Cares. The quality of the orientation our new volunteers receive directly correlates to the number of active volunteers we are able to provide to our partners. A great orientation is essential to get our new volunteers excited and engaged with our community! In addition, becoming an NVO Leader is a great way to increase your impact as a volunteer and build leadership skills!



Tutor Individuals Through X-Cel Education

6:30 PM - 9:00 PM


Join X-Cel for an evening of tutoring adults from all different cultures and levels of math proficiency. If you graduated from high school, you already have the knowledge to teach these eager-to-learn adults!  X-Cel’s mission is to make high school completion, post-secondary study, and sustainable career paths more accessible to underserved communities in Greater Boston. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own pencils and scrap paper.


Conduct Practice Interviews With Career Collaborative

Career Collaborative enables family self-sufficiency by helping low-income adults find and keep jobs with career potential. Today, they are an established, multifaceted workforce development organization providing much needed services to low-income clients. Volunteers will conduct practice interviews at Career Collaborative to help their clients find jobs. 




Cleaning and Organizing at the Democracy Center

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM


The Democracy Center works to foster a more vibrant local and global democracy by supporting sustainable, united communities of action. Volunteers are needed to help keep the building clean and organized for the hundreds of guests they have weekly. Volunteers will help with tasks such as cleaning, mopping, sweeping, doing dishes, and other tasks to keep the building tidy and comfortable for guests.

Winter STEAM Saturday is an exciting opportunity for students   K-8 to explore, discover and learn outside of the traditional classroom. Across four Saturdays, students will engage in interactive and fun learning activities in STEAM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics].
