On Thursday, June 21, three Upper Merion Police Officer promotions took place. Officer Aaron Barkmeyer was promoted to Corporal, Corporal Michael Bruner was promoted to Sergeant, and Sergeant Al Elverson was promoted to Lieutenant.


July is National Parks & Recreation Month!

The Upper Merion Board of Supervisors recently recognized July as National Parks & Recreation Month in honor of all of the great events and programs put on by UMPR for the Upper Merion community. We encourage you to take advantage of the many Parks & Rec offerings at any of our facilities and parks throughout UMT!



First Avenue Safety Improvements

The First Avenue Road Diet is a safety improvement project for motorists and pedestrians. The project will reduce the 4-lane road to 3 lanes that includes a lane of traffic in each direction, a dedicated center turn lane, and bicycle lanes or a wider shoulder.

  • Construction begins Monday, June 25
  • Excavation will begin on the curb ramps, which includes the sidewalk ramps at Allendale Road, American Ave, and the new mid-block pedestrian crossing near the bus shelters in front of Radial and Maschellmac/Arkema
  • No road construction activity will take place during rush hours
  • Construction may take place out of the roadway during the morning and afternoon rush hours (lanes will not be blocked)

Swedesburg Vol Fire Co Annual July 4th Parade

Saturday, June 30 | Parade begins at 12:00PM
Come out with your best red, white, and blue for the annual July 4th parade! Registration begins at 11:00AM for the non-motorized bike, stroller, and wagon decorating contest.

KOPSC Fall Intramural Soccer Registration is Now Open

This is a beginner soccer program for boys and girls ages 5-9. The program focuses on basics and fun! No travel involved. The program begins in September and takes place at Baxter Field. Rambler Service Update

Acme is now a request stop. Please call 610-354-8899 fifteen minutes prior to the "request" time listed. On Saturdays, you must call 610-613-2349 in order to be picked up from any request stop. Rambler schedules can be picked up at the Public Information Office in the township building. 

Yard Waste Collection

Now through October 26

The yard waste collection season will run through Friday, October 26, 2018. Pickup days will vary each week depending on workload and weather. We will make every effort to collect yard waste the same week the request is submitted. Fill out a request for service online or call the Public Works Department at 610-265-8465 before 12:00PM on the Tuesday of the week you wish to have your yard waste picked up. Please follow the collection guidelines.

Environmental Updates

Emerald Ash Borer Phase II: Timber Harvest at Heuser Park

The second phase of the township's Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation Plan at Heuser Park has begun. Over the next few weeks, a timber harvest is taking place on the Schuylkill River West Trail. Access to the trail will be restricted during the logging process for safety reasons.

Dr. Steve Presents...Adventures in the Deserts of Jordan Inside Recent Excavations at Tor Faraj

This lecture takes us deep into the desert of southwest Jordan, to a rock shelter site known locally as Tor Faraj. Portions of the third Indiana Jones movie were filmed in Jordan. Line Painting

Our line painters have begun painting stop bars, crosswalks, and arrows, starting on Mall Blvd. Most of the work will be done at traffic signals, and the rest will be on some local roads. Gulph Mills Country Club

Please be aware that the Gulph Mills Country Club, located at 200 Swedeland Road, is hosting a private fireworks display for a wedding on June 30. The fire company will be on standby for safety, and the display will end by 9:15PM.


Schuylkill Expressway Safety and Traffic Improvements

This project is the first phase of a long-range, multi-modal transportation plan designed to enhance travel along Interstate 76. PennDOT will install Variable Speed Limit and Queue Warning systems along Interstate 76 from U.S. 1 to just west of U.S. 202 in Philadelphia, Lower Merion and Upper Merion townships and West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County. Construction is expected to begin this summer and be completed in the summer of 2019. Learn more.


US 422 E. Ramp to Route 23 Temporarily Closed

The ramp from EB US 422 to Route 23 (Valley Forge Rd) is scheduled to be closed through late summer for construction on a new fly-over ramp. Learn more.
