Upcoming Events

November 9-11. NEPS Senior High Retreat. Kenbrook Bible Camp, 190 Pine Meadow Road Lebanon, PA 17046. We will gather for a retreat full of fun, singing, and playing, to remember that God’s love doesn’t change and reform us only once. God’s love continues to work in and through us each and every day. For more information and to register, please visit the synod website at http://nepasynod.org/event/senior-high-retreat.

November 17. Class for Lay Persons. 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. This year our Lay Classes will begin with a focus on preaching. We are finding that more and more lay people are filling the gaps during pastors’ vacations and during transitions, when there is not communion during the worship service. As much as we would like to think these messages come naturally, a lot goes into them. Please plan to join us for the Lay Class on November 17, “Preaching the Different Gospels,” taught by Pr. Mark Rigg. Click here for a full description. It will be held at the Lutheran Center. The cost is $10 and can be paid the morning of the event; but you must register by Wednesday, November 14 by calling Pastor Mary Gade at 610-266-5101.

December 11. Parish Secretaries Christmas Luncheon. A Christmas luncheon will be hosted by the Synod’s Support Staff for all Parish Secretaries on Tuesday, December 11 at noon at The Lutheran Center. An invitation with all the details is posted on the synod website at http://nepasynod.org/documents/2018-12-parish-secretaries-lunch.pdf. Please feel free to pass the invitation on to any retired parish secretaries you might know.

January 26, 2019. Learning Ministries Day. 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. The keynote speaker is Elsayed “Steve” Elmarzouky, spokesperson for the Reading Muslin Community. He speaks about his personal journey of faith as a practicing Muslim in Egypt and the U.S. and how his understanding of Islam reflects principles familiar to all people of faith. Workshops will be offered in the morning and afternoon. Participants can choose to learn about new resources, learn a skill, or choose a workshop for their own personal growth. For more information, visit the synod website at http://nepasynod.org/event/learning-ministries-day-2019.
