The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

This new dramatization of C.S. Lewis' classic, set in the land of Narnia, faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and end the reign of Aslan.  Presented by Frisco H.I.S. (Home is School). Serenity of Strings

The Odysseus Chamber Orchestra presents a concert featuring a wide array of solo instruments accompanied by the Serene sounds of the String Orchestra. From Vivaldi's Baroque Concerto for three violins to the impressionistic sounds of Claude Debussy's French Romantic Sacred Dances for Strings and Harp to a contemporary Tango for the Tuba by Oystein Baadsvick. Also on the program: Bartok's Divertimento for String Orchestra.  Get tickets online.

Band Bonanza MCB Concert

The McKinney Community Band presents an eclectic mix of concert band literature showcasing pieces from area band programs. As always, admission is free and perfect for any age. No tickets required. Families are welcome! The concert venue is in the heart of beautiful, historic downtown McKinney, providing great opportunities for lunch prior to the concert or dinner after, as well as some pre-concert shopping. This concert is made possible in part by a grant from the McKinney Arts Commission.

'Unique by Nature' Juried Art Show
Saturday | MPAC Gallery | Free
Artists from all over Texas submitted their work for cash prizes and the chance to have their piece hung in MPAC's historic halls. The opening and awards event is Saturday, and the show will be available to view through April 27. Wine and hors-d'oeuvres will be provided at the opening/awards event. Sponsored in part by the McKinney Arts Commission and community leaders.

Wayfaring Strangers

The Guitar Sanctuary hosts a special, limited-seating House Concert event with Maylee & The Mayor, Jon Christopher Davis, Grady Yates, and Will and Crystal Yates. Upstairs seating $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Tables that seat four are $150. Get tickets online.

Authenticity: The Art of Keeping It Real

The work of painter Elsie Porter is an expression of both her mind and her heart. Although somewhat cathartic, her pieces are always full of color and energy. Each piece is unique and vibrantly expressive as it tells the stories of dreams, fears, loves and losses. In short, her paintings tell the stories of life. Friday, 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, 4-9 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-4 p.m.

Franconia Easter Egg Hunt

It is almost that time of year again! Make plans to be at the brewery for the 5th Annual Franconia Easter Egg Hunt. Events are arranged for different age groups so all of the kids can enjoy the fun which includes a bounce house and special prize eggs. There will even be some prizes for the adults.

Wetland Canoe Trail

Saturday | 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Experience the diversity in wetland vegetation and wildlife while learning about the history and basics of wetland ecology. Spend time on a guided trail around the Heard wetlands, then explore during free paddle time on your own. Pre-registration required online. $32 for members; $42 for non-members.

Heard After Hours: Star Party
Saturday  | 8-11 p.m. | $16-19
 Enjoy time on telescopes and binoculars, and family-friendly fun. Exhibit hall will be open. Guests may bring waterproof seating, or camp chairs, and snacks. Long pants and closed-toed shoes suggested. Ages 18-under must be accompanied by an adult. $16 for  members; $19 for non-members. Pre-register online.

Zip Line Day
Sunday | 1-4 p.m.  | $12 per trip 
During our Zip Line Days, guests climb a 23-ft tree to our zip platform then proceed to a 487-foot zip line. Purchase one ticket ($12 each) for each time you would like to travel down the zip line. Pre-registration is required online. This event always sells out and only a few spots are left, so sign up now.

These exhibits/regular sessions are included with admission:

  • Nature Story Time, Friday, 10:30-11 a.m. 
  • Fossil Tortoises: Ongoing. These 34-million- year-old tortoise fossils are Stylemys nebrascensis. They are similar to modern tortoises, but lacked foreleg musculature for digging tunnels.
  • Magic Planet-oids: Saturday-Sunday. The whole family will enjoy this short, kid-friendly presentation.These are offered on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and on Sundays at 1:30 p.m.

Beer 2.9K

Saturday  | 9:30-11:30 a.m. | $30 registration
Complete a 2.9K and drink four beers* in between laps. You'll get a koozie, four canned beers, comaradry, and fun. A portion of ticket sales go to The Warrior’s Keep. *Note: Drinking beer is NOT required to participate. There will be other options - soda, water, and tea. If you plan on participating in the BEER 2.9K race, please bring a designated driver or take an Uber/Lyft home.

TUPPS 4th Annual Crawfish Boil
Sunday | Noon-8 p.m. | $25-50 for food

Pre-purchase your crawfish plate online early. (They could sell out!) Two pound plate, $25; and five-pound plate, $50. Not into crawfish, but still want to come out and enjoy the day? No problem! There is no cover charge to enter and there will be other food options available for purchase. Doors open at NOON and the taproom closes at 8 p.m.
