Meet Cristina
Cristina Cruz Tubens is the Office of the Bishop's new receptionist and administrative assistant. Cristina is married to Matthew Barkalow and has three sons, Jaffet, Michael and Dennis. When not greeting people and helping out around the center for ministry, Cristina enjoys playing and watching sports as well as fixing stuff around the house. The youngest sibling of three from Puerto Rico is energetic and enjoys making people laugh. Growing up Cristina had limited opportunities and privileges which has taught her to be who YOU are and what you want to be. The sky is the limit. Stop in and say hello sometime.

#GivingTuesday
In these past weeks many of us have found ourselves wondering how we might bring a little more light and love into our world. Especially in a culture that is divided and uncertain of what the future holds, we are drawn relentlessly to the light of God who calls us out to shine forth with the good news of God's love and life for all.

Join the Southeastern Iowa Synod in shining forth God's light by donating to our Forward Together campaign on Giving Tuesday, November 29, a day in which we can stand against the false hope of consumerism by making a true difference in the name of Christ.

ELCA Presiding Bishop and other Faith Leaders Offer Advent Devotions
The Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton, presiding bishop of the ELCA, and leaders from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, the Anglican Church of Canada, and The Episcopal Church have prepared a series of Advent devotions for members of the four denominations.

"May our prayers united be a modest but hopeful sign of what our churches can do together as we bear witness to the One who first reconciled himself to us."

Martin Luther: Art and the Reformation
Five hundred years ago, one man took a stand that shook Europe and changed the world. Now you can see the story of Martin Luther and the Reformation brought to life through astonishing artworks and historical objects, traveling outside of Germany for the first time ever. Luther used art and the newly invented printing press to challenge Europe's leaders and spread a revolution of religious, cultural, and societal change. This exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, gold, textiles, and works on paper - as well as Luther's personal possessions and recent archaeological finds - that shed new light on an explosive era and the man who ignited it.

This exhibit is open now through January 15, 2017, at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
