A new sermon series begins this Sunday!  Pastor Clark's reminding us not to sweat the small stuff and focusing on the big stuff.  This week's big stuff is Baptism, with a passage from Luke about John the Baptist and Jesus. 

As always, music with enhance both worship services, with the 8:45 service lead by our worship band, with contemporary songs and the 11:15 service featuring traditional hymns

A new Adult Education class begins during the 10 o'clock hour, lead by Pastor Clark (read about it below) and we'll have a "make your own prayer bead" workshop in the Chapel all month.

A Special Session of General Conference has been called to receive and act upon a report from the Commission on a Way Forward and recommendations of the Council of Bishops.  The session will take place in St. Louis, Missouri February 23 - 26.

Thinking about being a part of this summer’s mission trip?  We call it YSP (Youth Service Project) and we would love for you to come along! That the World May Know. 
A Sunday morning study with Pastor Clark, begins this Sunday, January 13 at 10 am.  Embark on a journey to what is modern day Turkey as we examine the Bible’s timeless call to impact our culture. In study and discussion we learn how to walk as Jesus walked. Room 301.
 
 
 
 
PRAYING WITH PRAYER BEADS. On Sunday, the Chapel will be set up with “make your own prayer beads” stations.  Learn how to use prayer beads to enhance your prayer life, and create your own set.   Instructions, materials and tools provided, along with prayer and devotional books to help enhance your prayer life in 2019. We're Getting Ready for Children's Worship Sunday!
We don't look at our kids as the 'church of the future'.  They know they're the church of 'right now'!"  On Sunday, February 3 our Sunday School kids will lead all of us in a beautiful time of worship. 
Kids, be sure to attend Sunday School at 10 am to learn how you can share your gifts and graces and help others see God through your eyes!  And if you like to sing, Malik and Isaac will be teaching us a new song or two!  Be a part of it, and bring your friends!
 
 
 
 
 
What are Advanced Directives?  Tuesday, January 15 at 7 pm. All adults admitted to any hospital will be asked if they have Advance Directives.  Will you be ready? Our neighbors at Brecksville United Church of Christ invite you to learn about Living Wills, Health Care Power of Attorney, Guardianship and Organ Donation.  Presented by a retired hospital social working (Mark Lehman) as a service to the community.  Brecksville UCC is located across the square from our church, next to Central School. Year end giving statements will be mailed to your home address by January 19.  (Do you need to update your address?) The outside of the envelope will be marked “Important Tax Documents Enclosed.” Don’t miss it!

Can’t wait for the mail?  You can quickly print your own statement anytime from our secure online portal.  It’s easy as 1, 2, 3!

1. Log in to www.onrealm.org/BrecksvilleMethodist.  Your e-mail address is your login.  Your password is known only to you.  If you can’t remember it, follow the instructions to re-set. 

2.  Click Giving on the main menu.

3. You can view your past giving, see scheduled giving or even schedule a recurring gift.  Click the print icon to print a copy. 

In January 2019, a quick print “2018 Giving Statement” button will appear on the right side of the page.

Getting Ahead In a Just-Gettin’-By World
Brecksville UMC is one of four churches in our district participating in a new poverty fighting partnership between suburban and urban churches.  We will be providing support to participants in a 16 week workshop designed to give people the tools and resources they need to move out of poverty.  Help is needed in the preparation and service of dinner and with child care (as needed) on January 29, February 26, March 26 and April 23. PAPER RECYCLING BONUS WEEK!
 When our bins are emptied one week from today, we will earn an extra $5 per ton for the paper we recycle.  So, bring your old magazines, newspapers, notebooks, books - anything paper- to the bin!
